Well, the 'you've been unlucky' already seems to emphasize quantity over quality, and the focus on a failure to win over even-handed stating of how your odds compare against the mean, is awkward phrasing on its own. The use of 'less' does feel an unnecessary stressing of that theme. :P

When you check how many gifts you've won compared to how many you were expected to win statistically, it says 'Overall, you've been unlucky, and won xx less gifts than estimated since you first joined.'
Can 'less' be changed to 'fewer'? Gift is a countable noun, and it would soften the blow somewhat if it didn't stick out when reading it. :)
