But so few keyboards use it that there's no incentive to have support for it in games, and until there's an incentive to have support for it in game, there's no real point in making/getting a keyboard like this...

Ahh, nice find. I don't really have a great technical understanding, but doesn't the game just recognize this similar to a controller? Most games support all kinds of controllers and even no-name and controllers with extra buttons usually work, so I thought a keyboard like this should work just fine?

That's because all controllers work with either the xinput standard (Xbox 360 and clones) or dinput standard (everything else, is quite flexible). Except that a keyboard emulates a controller and uses one of those protocols it's not going to be able to have an analog signal that a game can understand.

Yeah I'm not sure if the Roccat is what I'm looking for. The Wooting keyboard seems more practical and, due to its simplicity, more convincing. I'll definitely do some more research around those keyboards and see what they really can and can't do. Since both keyboards are a little pricy, a purchase has to wait a little anyway.

Because Wooting has RGB light, and you can set different color for EACH key. Keyboard with light is expensive, more expensive if it has rainbow light (RGB), and even more if you can set different color for EACH key.
Also the switches on Wooting are user-replaceable, so it costs more at first. (but repair cost will be way cheaper if only a switch is broken)

It's more complicated than you think, and more importantly it's only interesting to a very small niche market so there's not much incentive to develop it. It's not hard to MAKE, but it's hard to integrate into normal computer use and drivers and so on.
Anyway, if you get tired of waiting for it to be made - just plug in a controller and play with that when your fingers get tired! Doesn't matter if you haven't used one for many years, it just works and you'll pick it up again quickly - I know I did when I wanted a more relaxed gaming experience and decided to buy an xbox 360 controller. Since then I've bought another one for couch coop. It's awesome, although of course for some games you just can't beat a keyboard and mouse.

Well the Wooting one seems to be exactly what I want. It also uses Xinput wich should work with most games. The only thing that is a little worrying is the games support of Xinput and mouse at the same time.
And yeah, pickung up a controller as backup might not be a bad idea, especially if you want to convince someone who isn't that much into video games to play with you. :D

Its been a good 7 years since I last touched a controller and ever since I played every single game with keyboard and mouse. But every once in a while, especially when my fingers get tired and tapping the keys gets harder, I think a controller would make my life easier.
But since I'm so used to keyboard and mouse I'd prefer a keyboard with similar perks to a controller. All it would take are analog WASD keys. Similar to the R2 and L2 buttons of a XBox controller. Unfortunately it seems like there isn't anything like that out there. Why is that?
It can't be that difficult to develop and I can't be the first person to think about this? There is definitely a market for this because even FPS players would profit from slower movement at times.
