Happy Cakeday!
Groupees has been around since Dec 2010, quickly trailing Humble (Est. March 2010) and Humble's first bundle (May 2010). Groupees' early claim on the bundle market helped them become one of the most recognized and respected bundle services around. ..until they decided TRASHWARE IZ LIFE and dedicatedly went around burning every bridge they had with their consumers.
The first Be Mine released in Feb 2012, with Be Mine Anniversary following it in Feb 2013.
However, BMA skipped 2018, meaning it's now actually the 6th year anniversary (and the 7th year of Be Mines).

"ages" ago, then... i really think you have to have something good to stay alive that long in that/this crazy world of bundles.
i'm very new, there, but i always appreciated their "weirdness", i hope they will be able to reconstruct a bridge -or two- with us.
for the curious, first bundle had: Beat Hazard, Max and the Magic Marker and Multiwinia
thank you, Sooth

The bundle that got me - https://groupees.com/steampunk2
Life is not easy, but they are only the shadow of what they were :( And the megapack e-books were long, 100-200ish pages long. Such insane value. (That curator kicked ass with this bundle)

π Twin Sisterβͺ + Max and the Magic Marker on Dec 17th, actually.
π Girl Talkβͺ + Beat Hazard followed on the 19th, Black Moth Super Rainbowβͺ + Multiwinia (No working link?) was put up on the 21st, and The Balconies & Clothes Make The Manβͺ + Aztaka & Miner Wars: 2081 (No working link?) released on the 23rd.
According to my search, the first two bundles lasted for two days each, ending when the next began, but last two bundles lasted for three days, allowing the third bundle to overlap the fourth one. The fifth [music only] bundle didn't release until the following Februrary, and the next [one game + one album] bundle didn't release until March.
Their first multigame bundle doesn't seem to have been until Dec 2011. The first Be Mine (again, in Feb 2012) was Groupees' first large-scale game bundle, which likely helped give Be Mines their initial positive reputation.

It's weird that they got like this. I've been there since about the beginning, and been purchasing basically every single bundle twice (one to gift, because they were that good), and I have no idea why they can't find anything good anymore.
I mean yes, Steam has become a trashcan since when they decided to not choose the games themselves, but good games are still being released and bundled. Actually the situation seem more easy now since most bundle sites went down and some only offer trash games, but the fact that even HB now doesn't seem to be able to find worth stuff to offer THAT often anymore (or maybe they just keep it for the monthlies?) probably means something.
Fanatical (bundlestars) is probably the only good one remaining beside the occasional HB games bundle, and Indiegala's quality has been quite low in the past few years aswell. Is there something going on which I don't know (I admittedly don't have time to follow games matters since a few years)? Or maybe it's just for the bad reputation that some of these sites received in the past years?
It's surely not helping them (groupees) that they insist on not sending out a notification email everytime a new bundle is released. I may be wrong but I think I've read that they're doing it on purpose, but the only purpose of doing that is to go bankrupt.

no one lied, Crumpet... i accept you and others misunderstood what was our intent... if you or anyone else feels cheated, i'm ok refunding your subscription, and we'll simply cancel the orders... we were late which is not good and i want to do something for the subs to make up for that (still in discussion) but the overall value i think was quite good... if you disagree and are upset, please put in a request through support and we will address... again, sincere apologies but please stop the accusatiJonnyBot Groupees HQ 11:52

Yeah... Groupees preorders went sour like two years ago. Still pretty mad at myself that I bought that 'subscription', so here's just watching the reveal and being happy that I dodged yet another bullet.

But doesn't that sound like a fair price for 5 trashware games, iffy, dead MMOs, or low-quality mobile ports + 10 copies of Bad Rats + a Groupees coin that they'll never let us use on any bundle that has even a single legitimate game inside?
I mean, I'm just guessing at the contents, here, but I'm feeling good about my odds. π
Some of those previous grab bag games were actually decent, maybe we'll luck out and see a few of those put in.

There used to be the assumption that any preorder above $2.50 was assured decent games or a coin.
Since this bundle was $3, I was using that to imply that the value wasn't going to at all be due to the games.
Besides, as I noted, the coins have been worthless for some time now, so they could make an entire bundle of nothing but coins and it still wouldn't have any appeal [to any but the most dedicated trash collectors].

And to be fair I for example still have a coin from Be Mine 14 from 4 1/2 years ago that is essentially worthless because it has been virtually impossible to use it on anything that has been even remotely appealing to me over that time without A) forfeiting most of the value of the coin or B) that has not been grossly overpriced to compensate.

Considering that for a $2 / $2.50 preorder price of previous bundles, T2 cost $4 after release, then it's possible that for a $3 preorder the T2 price of this bundle after release will be more than $4 (therefore be ready to pay $1 - $2 in addition to your coin).

I don't drink or drug and haven't for many years. This is a natural high (a lack of sleep is still a natural high, I think?) :3
There's nothing that says I can't stuff Groupees' g-string and get FC New Dawn! (I'm waiting to see a few reviews first, though).

yeah that's where I differ with you. Far Cry games are a nice addition, but they fall in the same category as most games. I need a very good deal for even games I really want.

I'm thinking both of the guesses are correct so far, unfortunately. I look at it this way if I wouldn't take them for free I definitely would want to pay for them.

Given that it's inclusive into the second tier, you could determine bundling off that, if so inclined.
On the other hand, a $5 tier requires 100$ in retail to firmly hit 95% off bundle status, so it's likely the entire bundle'll count as unbundled. Alternatively, given that it's over 90% discount and bordering on exploitable, keeping tier 1 unbundled and bundling tier 2 would actually end up being a fairly fair approach to all involved.
In summary, you're right:
No matter what, Tier 1 should end up being unbundled no matter what, barring a rather quirky staff decision.
