So, what are your thoughts on it. Is "Of Orcs and Men" a game that is decent enough to create a Giveaway for?

Is Of Orcs and Men a decent game to create a Giveawy for?

View Results
Yes, it's fine, it's still relatively popular
No, you cheap bastard, get a fucking payday loan and get some AAA games on here!! (Not gonna happen any time soon, sorry)

Nobody? Wow, is my choice in games really that bad?

As far as I know it's not a very popular game. It doesn't interest me in particular, but the spinoff game Styx: Master of Shadows is great!

Ah, I see. i had a few serials for it and I've noticed, over the space of a week, that some traders have snatched my hand trying to trade for it, along with The Fall

If I had'nt already traded for Of Orcs and Men, I would have loved to see a giveway created for this game. I still haven't played but it looks cool, plus most reviews are positive.

Are we really listening to the French, though? You do know the average French guy only changes his underwear once every seven days.....Unless they all realised after that poll that they were being grubby bastards and decided to heighten their personal hygiene? That's why they all carry around strong cheese and garlic on their bikes. It distracts away from the unmistakeable aroma of sack-sweat

A very interesting story, but the combat is...fucking strange. It would have been a much better game if it was an action-RPG like Fable, Kingdoms of Amalur, Venetica, Overlord, Rise of the Argonauts, etc. Instead they opted for an old-school, masked turn based combat system. Not a great fan of this, I must admit, but it doesn't bother me if it's well implemented, like say Dragon Age Origins or The Witcher. . Hell, my favorite RPG ever, Neevrwinter Nights had a similar combat, but Bioware really does know its stuff when it comes to RPGs, both old school and new. i'd pick this over the combat in JRPGs any day,.. In JRPGs combat is an exercise in boredom and tedium.

Like a cross between Shadow of Mordor and Final Fantasy, but without all the fanfare or blitzballs or whatever they were called?

Of Orcs and Men is part of the video games made in the Confrontation universe (this is the Rackham's tabletop game, not Game Workshop's). An universe not very known, mostly popular in France and some parts of Europe.

Games so far: Confrontation, Aarklash: Legacy, Of Orcs and Men and Styx: Master of Shadows. None of them are very popular, as they are quite hard, but they do have interesting stories and a good gameplay if you like old school style. Personally, i picked up Barbaric bundle (Bundle Stars) for two games: Drakensang (another old school, but in the Dark Eye universe, german board game in the vein of D&D) and Of Orcs and Men.

For more information about the Confrontation universe, please use your google-fu.

I didn't know all that, thank you for imparting with that knowledge. After I've had some sleep, (been awake 72 hours), I'm gonna reset my brain and Google the Holy Hell out of that because, I think, Of Orcs and Men and Styx look like pretty damn good games

I own it but haven't played it. It just sits gathering dust like all my other games. But I've heard it has a nice story though the gameplay and combat system isn't all that special.

Played it a bit. Story is nice. Characters swear a lot... Partly justified, but still, sometimes feels forced. Camera is terrible. Combat system a bit weird, takes getting used to. Both main characters have fairly good models and textures(some clipping occurs though). Rest of the character models/textures are of lower quality.

I'm yet to delve deeper into the game, but story seems nice, and that's the only reason i got Of Orcs and Men.

:) Voice acting is fairly good too. Although it applies to voices of Arkail and Styx as far as I've heard. Some voices sound very unprofessional.

Good call because it's definitely worth it. My review probably speaks better than I could attempt to surmise it right now.

It's a Spiders game ... the best way I can describe those is that they're like a pie made by an amazing, but absentminded chef. It would be extremely good ... if he didn't use salt instead of sugar. One mistake that ruins the entire thing.

Aarklash (the world where Confrontation takes place) it's not a nice world. It's a very grey, morally questionable one. If the characters in Confrontation MIGHT be considered heroes (barely), the ones in Aarklash: Legacy are basically villains hellbent on revenge. Of Orcs and Men and Styx have characters that barely can be considered anti-heroes (as AoC reviews mentions) and that only because the oposition is worse than them. Would love to see better games in the universe, but Cyanide/Focus seems to be the ones holding the license for the video-games.

As a side note, play Drakensang and Drakensang: River of Time/Phileasson's Secret for getting familiar with the Dark Eye Universe (Blackguard 1+2, Chains of Satinav, Memoria, Demonicon, Realms of Arkania series/HD remake for the original RoA are set in the Dark Eye Universe, a universe almost as rich as the one from D&D).

If you like old school stuff (and i mean really old school), the Drakensang series is a joy to play. You can check some reviews on the RPG watch site.

The only RPGs I've ever really gotten into were the first Spellforce, for some reason, although I almost detest pretty much any RPG, I loved that game...and quickly hated it when the Medusa's decided to populate an entire map with their Stone Gargoyles......and Vampire: Bloodlines, which is barely an RPG, for the most part

It is somewhere in between the enormous gulf between those two options. But if I really had to make a call, I would lean ever so slightly toward the 'no', than the 'yes'.
It's worth playing, but I would be surprised to find anyone calling it compulsory.

A lot of gamers seem to deem Call of Duty compulsory, so there's no accounting for taste, really

(YES!! Another CoD dig in the same thread!!)

I've given away Bad Rats 6 or 7 times. If you have a spare copy of a game, someone will want it for one reason or other.

Edit: Lol, I see you'ce given Bad Rats before too! Overcast is meant to be pretty horrible as well and that's another. Of Orcs and Men definitely has better rep than those.
