Hello,

I've been around for a month or so and just wanted to make a couple suggestions to admins/webmasters to potentially make the community better.

[14 - 30 Day Lockout For Gift Winners]

Basically if you win your name will be pulled from the database to win future gifts for a 14 - 30 day duration. This will make users more cautious when spending points and potentially give higher winning percentages to those "less fortunate".

[Gratitude Points]

This could be just a policy change or built into the system - those who win should give back 25% of the winning dollar amount back into the community by creating a raffle of their own. For example if I was to win Skyrim at 60p ($60 value) I would in turn create a raffle for a minimum of 15p ($15 value). I have not won a gift on the site as of yet however if or when I do i'm going to follow this suggestion personally and just thought it might be a good ideal to share.

Don't release the hounds, just making some suggestions =P

Lockout period would be terrible. Genuine users of the site like me who visit every day and contribute in the forums/comments would stop coming to the site for 14-30 days at a time. :(

As far as creating a gift for a %% value of the winning item would just alienate users and cause them to get banned for now following such a rule. Plus what happens when you win DLC items or $5 indie games?

Not supporting both of it. The idea of the site is to gift to those that cannot afford it.

It does not fit to the spirit of the site. The lockout is also bad.
And I say this as someone who had no luck so far.

Really? Because I can afford most games... I would just rather win them :)

Good for you. A lot of people can't.

The probability that you win again in 14 - 30 days is extremely low. IMHO no need for that.

Both suggestions don't feel right. You already have to be quite lucky to win in public giveaways, why discourage people from visiting once they won? And how about children, who won something but don't have the possibility to give something back?

This won't be done. The lockout is just unfair. What if I win Nippon? A 1p DLC which is not the same as Skyrim?

Some people win, some don't. Users should really get over this.

The Gratitude idea won't work because some people join here because they can't buy the games they want. If someone would be forced to buy back then he might as well have bought it for himself in the first place and not participate here.

ITT: I want to shake things up to give myself a higher chance of winning giveaways.

No. Get out.

Hmmm i'm kind of surprised at some of the negativity put forth when somebody is making a SUGGESTION - bad ideas it seems and that's fair enough, but let's remember that suggestions do not need to be taken at face value and some of the best ideas spawn from the worst of ideas.

I did not make these suggestions to increase my chances of winning btw - I like the anticipation of a raffle (like playing the lottery) but am fine with not winning a gift its that is the way fortune shines upon me, somebody like Bretherensi telling me to "get out" when 4 out of 80 raffles has resulted in a win yet nothing has been given back to the community is kind of ironic.

Anyway, thanks for hearing me out - hope the site continues to thrive.
