...an auto-thanks script for Steam Gifts. Did a search in google, found a script in userscripts.org. "Auto-fill the comment field of giveaways with random and adaptive "thanks" to show your lazy appreciation."

Apparently it has been installed 630 times, so there are 630 people out there with automated thanks that change ramdomly and according to the name of the game and the name of the contributor. Dunno what to think. (Should I post the link here, so you guys could see it?)

I already knew about this, have you read the reviews? :D

There is also another script that has more installs and adds a thanks button and also hides thanks (that's somehow stupid).

BTW please don't post the link here.

Yeah there are some people that use this and it's very obvious, especially when they customize it to say something other than just thanks/ty/thank you... even if it changes include on the game/gifter's username.

You know that they have it installed when the person of the giveaway wants you to say something other than thanks.

Are people doing this as a lazy way to be nice? Because the thanks spam is really annoying.

Honestly, who cares.

People complain that people don't say thanks. So someone makes saying "thank you" easier, and people complain about that.
What's the difference between typing thanks, or clicking a button that does it for you? The person still gets the little ego boost they're looking for...

630 people who use automated thanks vs thousands upon thousands that don't even bother saying it.

^ Good point. I think a scripted thanks is still better than no thanks at all, it shows at least some effort, even if it's close to nonexistent.

Honestly, I just want people to comment on all giveaways. If its simply ty.. or Thanks or a random sentence. Something to indicate they took the time to write something in the text field as opposed to just clicking the enter giveaway button.
If its a script that does it.. at least they took the time to look it up and install it.
Im fine with it.

Hey, I copypaste all my thank-yous manually!

I sometimes write something different based on the giveaway description, like if they say it's for their birthday I say happy birthday or whatever, but I'm not a very creative guy so most people get my standard "Thank you." Still, I think it's important to show my appreciaton for the people keeping the site and community alive by giving away free stuff, even if it's just in a little way.

Well when the few things you can say are "Thanks", "Thanks for the giveaway", "Thank you for the chance", etc. what's the point?

If people just want to give a quick thanks I don't give a shit if it's automated. I only comment when I have discussion to add because I feel like the "thanks" is worthless anyway.

I don't want to waste useless space so I never comment (anymore), only when the giveaway creator has a special question/wants you to say something specific. Saying thanks when you receive a gift is all that matters.

@People that don't like this: Try entering giveaways on a smartphone and saying thanks when there is a shitstorm free games or bundles. It's a fulltime job then :p
