Horde or Alliance?
I used to play WoW left sometime after Wrath of the Lich King came out but before Cataclysm. A while after I had quit playing someone hacked my account and was using it for botting. Only way I found out was because a friend saw my main running around in Dalaran (sp?) with some odd gear on. Spent 30 minutes on hold waiting for Blizzard tech support to get my account back creating an arena.net account and left it banned until I decide to come back one day. If I did I'd probably just kill my main because he's been tarnished..... oh also, For the Horde!

Tried WoW didn't like it all for me it was very boring because i didn't like the story and i felt like the quests were the same but thats a MMO i felt like the character skill trees were very limited and u really only had 1 choice everytime with the 2 other 2 choices being kinda decent
The pvp is really plain just capture the flag or capture the point its fun for like 1 day i was bored of it already.
The arena's are so unbalanced and the matchmaking sucks.
Also didn't really like the instances they were too easy and no mechanics in them all u really needed was gear and u could pretty much complete the thing. Ofcourse i couldn't get into a cap level raid but i did some low level ones they looked the same for me as the boring instances just a lot of walking and barely any fighting.
I felt kinda dissapointed and ripped off for the 50$ i payed to play it i feel like a game like LOTRO a f2p MMO is way better the it has way better class customization and the latest raid and instances they added are really hard to until everyone figures out the mechanics (Right now it has been over a month and only 2 kins beat it so far) too bad they lack content because its a small team and barely anyone plays it . But for WoW having such a big dev team and the extra cash i think they could do way better to me it just looks like a decent game with a really high price.

to respond to a few points,
yes over the past few expansions low level content has been a joke, way too easy
i don't pvp much myself, so can't say much about it
i still feel like the end-game raiding scene is still pretty hard, considering that after a full year of the same raid only 5.3% of the raiding teams has managed to kill the end-boss on hardest difficulty
but sry to hear your experience was like that, i guess its not for everyone :/

I think that WoW sits at the top of my favorite games that I have played. However the last expansion was such a disappointment that I think it made me stop play it for good, I don't even have the itch that I would always get after not playing it for a few months.
Was due to WoW that I started using the name Nyx and it followed me since then. I think I'm using it for almost a decade now. Then I started to see it pop out in other games to name in game npc, champions, heroes, ships and other things. I remember being on Wikipedia searching for the perfect name for a shadow priest and I loved Nyx when I saw it. Every time I created a new character I would lose about one hour searching for the perfect name, it had to had something that was fit for both the race and class of the character.
When I started playing, I had a small guild that was made up by real life friends and we used to raid together, those are some of my favorite gaming memories. Raiding Karazhan was so much fun for us. But then little by little my friends stopped playing, so the rest of us had to find another guild to keep playing and eventually we created a new guild with WoW-friends that we have met along the way. But again, people stopped playing little by little and the guild fell apart after a few years.
Maybe I will play the new expansion, but only if after 6 months-1 year I hear good things about it, and the itch returns.
Thank you for the ride and for bringing fond memories back.

I haven't played a Warcraft game since Orcs & Humans. Thanks for the train :)
Edit: I just looked the game up and I never knew it was the first Warcraft game. I enjoyed it, but for some reason I never played another. I remember playing it on my old IBM computer, I still have the game disc.
Edit 2: I just pulled the disc out and I was wrong, it's actually Warcraft II: Tides Of Darkness.

Bump. Never played WoW though I've been asked to play it twice.
