Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend

Pre-ordered or pre-purchased? Because if you mean the first one, you don't have anything to wait for ^^

Pff, I actually want to support the devs directly and bought the game on their site.

I'm going into a hibernative state from Monday until the beta opens up and I have no plans to sleep until it ends.

If you pre-purchase there is apparently a difference go the guildwars2 website guildwars2.com to read the difference. If you registered for a chance to be in the beta you could also get an invite maybe but if you pre-purchase you're guaranteed in.

Preordered is not prepurchased.
Preorderers are not going to get into beta. Prepurchasers already registered their GW2 accounts and get info to email about betas.

It's open to the people who have already bought the game and maybe some selected players from beta sign-up (but I wouldn't really count on it).

They wont be playable.We only get Charr,Human and Half Giant Human.

Follow their twitter. They've announced that only 3 races will be playable. Moreover, Asura and Sylvari might not be playable until release, because they "don't want to uncover everything before release".

So if people tell they prepurchased game (= gain access to all coming beta events) they break NDA?
I don't think it's not allowed to tell you got into beta anymore, and they will probably create new NDA.

The NDA was changed quite a while ago. Why do you think there are tons of beta videos now on youtube.

It has no subscription. A normal MMO price is retail box + $15/month + later expansions. If GW2 releases a $60 expansion every year, that is like paying for 4 months of a sub, and getting the game itself for free for a year's worth of play.

Eh, the Guild Wars expansions had pretty much the same amount of content as the base game, so I don't mind that they're full-priced. The only expansion that was a lot smaller was Eye of the North, and that one wasn't full price so it's all good.

Besides, as Celdiruen pointed out you get those $60 back in a few months of not having to pay subscription fees.

I mean, at least Arenanet is taking the time to release a complete game first. The expansion packs here are actual expansion packs rather than cut content turned into DLC. Complaining about extra content that you don't even have to buy is pretty strange, especially when you can simply wait for the price to drop later if $60 is too much for you. I'll never understand why people think you absolutely HAVE to buy everything on release day.

It's much more acceptable for Guild Wars to have expansions than normal MMOs because they don't charge a monthly fee. So if you pay $60 for the game, and let's say they come out with a $60 expansion once a year, then you're still paying only about 1/3 as much as someone playing a standard MMO (if that MMO doesn't release any expansions that is).
