To be completely honest I really would care/mind if Wiki had ads.

Depends. If they have to court advertisers it would affect the (perceived) impartiality of Wikipedia. If there's an ad for Coca-Cola on the page for Coca-cola, do you trust the article to tell the truth about Coca-Cola? How do you know what's sponsored by Coca-Cola and what's not?

Are you aware that as it is, the information is frequently put up by the same people who would place advertisements on Wikipedia? I dont know whether Coca-Cola wrote whatever it says about them on the Coca-Cola Wikipedia page, but I can confirm this is frequently done by other companies (and famous people often edit their own page too, for the same reason).

Same here. As for what Adamofgreyskull said, I would not like wikipedia to take those kinds of ads but rather just banners and stuff on the top/bottom of the page or in the middle of an article.

One big, fat +1 on that bro.
Wait, you do mean go to wiki, read sources and google them and read and do all research stuff on your own?

Don't really need google. Just go from source to source that wikipedia cited. And if that's not enough info, then you can google.

Exactly. People give people who use Wiki crap for it, but wiki cites most things, so just use those sources and you're golden. It's not a hard concept.

Nah the easy way is to copy the Wikipedia article, and then keep that for submission and change whatever it says on the Wikipedia page to something else so then if the teacher reads the Wikipedia page it will be different ;)

Does your university provide free access to its index for everyone in the world that has an internet connection?

You won't be at university forever. Eventually you're going to want an Encyclopedia you can trust without paying through the nose.
