What I've tried to do is deleting the letters s, n, t, a from "snowman" got "owm", so 3 letters left. "mistletoe" gives "mileoe", so 6 letters left. But the equation is not right... I've kept the 3 and brute-forced the other number.
Really confused now...just brute-forced the entire alphabet and nothing worked. Are the two letters not the same? In other puzzles, if the mystery characters were different, they had different representative symbols. Not getting this one at all....hmmmmm...
if the puzzle part is asking for one letter there would only be one ? in puzzle part. so for this one its asking for the two missing letters out of 3 in the word ?*?. if it wanted the same letter it would say just ? =. hope that clears it up a bit
Ok, I confess I totally bruteforced the 3 and the 6 in this one. I am curious, what was the "correct" way?

Brute forcer here. The Cookie being 23 is what really threw me but looking back on it all it seems ridiculously easy!
