Description

PLEASE READ FIRST

So, I'm making a video game for my MA Thesis
It's a puzzle game based on manipulating the laws of physics - my question to You guys is - what, except gravity of course ;) - should I consider to 'play' with? :)
I'm talking about manipulating with physics, not games that use physics, e.g. Crazy Machines, Crayon Physics Deluxe etc. ;)

Also - I need some examples of games.. There are: Quantum Conundrum, Braid, And Yet It Moves, Q.U.B.E.(?), Antichamber(? not sure if I can put it in here)

Maybe I've missed something: http://steamcommunity.com/id/arxel/games/?tab=all&sort=name
But if there is any other game not on my gamelist - please tell me! :)

Thanks for this gift :)

Do you know "A Slower Speed of Light" by MIT Game Lab? Not on Steam, also not really a game, just a playable techdemo.

Thats awesome and whats I've been looking for! Know more?!!
I'm also thinking about the behavior of person and object in zero-gravity with Coriolis effect..
So some sort of techdemo/simulation of something would be cool too :)

Thanks and things to play with that come to my mind would be dimensions (ok, already in Quantum) and time (would this be considered in the physics department?).

portal/portal 2 definitely mess with physics. also check out A Slower Speed of Light by MIT game labs, it messes with your speed and what happens at near lightspeed levels

Friction? "Bounciness"? Hrmm.... magnetism?

How far into the project are you? I would very much like to know more! My first MS project was also game related, and it didn't work out, so I want to see you succeed!

Maybe something to do with changing coefficients of elasticity or making KE and momentum be strange functions of velocity instead of quadratic and linear. Adding a significant sinusoidal component might generate some interesting results or you could change an exponent.

It would be cruel to the player, but adding in a variable time delay between when they send signals and the avatar responds. Maybe this is justified with extremely slow radiowaves communicating with a robot that is moving through a room. The player is supposed to be in a control room and the further the robot is from the room, the longer the signal takes to reach the robot. You might make a sort of inverse Guitar hero lane on the side of the screen to show input on their way to the robot. A vertical line down the middle = forwards, left/right means a signal to turn (distance from center -> speed of turn), and special symbols could indicate other interactions.

4D maze-shooter with multi-objective based deathmatch. E.g. Carry the power skull for bonus damage, speed, and damage reduction (+health regen OP), but can only use one-handed weapons. Score negligible points by killing enemies and mega points by capturing the flag/bases. Perform some actions to alter the map in non-confusing ways, such as removing semi-transparent walls, activating teleporters (or teleprompters according to autocorrect [corrector]), or build/destroy ramps and bridges.

Did I earn my entry yet? :) I don't think those are quite what you wanted, but hopefully they help.

Actually, if you take that third idea and add (destructible) health/ammo stations, a class system (with minimal trees), ground vehicles, space combat, and maybe heroes, I can stop waiting for BFIII.

I'd recommend Gateways, Colour Bind, English Country Tune, and Red Rolling Hood. Red Rolling Hood is on Desura and Steam Greenlight. Thanks.
