Description

The Powers that Be said this was going to be a hot summer, and so far there's no lie detected. I wonder, will we ever look back from a more temperate time and say, "Well that one was a scorcher, I'm glad the weather settled down at last" - or will we look back one day from a burning world and remember fondly the old reasonable days of Heat Domes and long sweltering days without a break? "Remember back in 2024 when we used to complain about all those days when we thought it was really hot? Ha, how precious, what were we thinking!"

On Saturday we're opening A Midsummer Night's Dream in a park on the Upper West Side for a couple of weekends, and then we'll move indoors for a couple of weeks in the theater in August. It's a joy doing Shakespeare outside in the summer, and also a battle with the elements. We're hoping for rain to behave and leave us dry, and for the heat to have some mercy. Wish us luck.

This is an old key, recently revealed. It should be good, but these days who knows. If you have any trouble with it, please let me know. This Steam Special Edition of the game is no longer sold, but you should be able to activate the key. Enjoy!

https://steamdb.info/sub/33921/apps/ should correspond to this package, be sure to check the winner. I already own everything and could join.

Thanks for the giveaway anyway!

Given that whole thing where the world's steadily warming up, I expect we'll have the latter, where we think it was precious how we worried over these temperatures. But one can hope. We've also had terrible storms this year; normally we get one or two, but these look like the ones I saw while I lived in a semi-tropical city. And they're relentless, the only kind of rain that seems to show up now.

Wishing you the best with your Shakespeare performance! I've been invited to see Macbeth performed by a troupe entirely made of women and non-binary folks on the 30th and I'm excited about it. I don't think I've seen a Macbeth performance since high school.

It really can be a spectacular play, and it's one of the ones that lends itself to adaptation. I saw one in early summer done with a cast of four, led by an old college friend. He thought it through carefully and did the hard work - making adaptations fly requires tremendous attention to detail, and a lot of smarts - and he's also an amazing performer, and it was thrilling. I've seen some extraordinary adaptations, and some that are brave and intersting and try hard, and then some that are just terrible. I hope the one you're seeing pricks your interest!
