Aliens ARE cool, and the killing? all one big misunderstanding. :P
FIrst developer that comes to mind is Double FIne. Not all their games are great, but some are and they always try to approach games from a new angle and with humour. I love that.

I want to try Psychonauts and the other point & click games, I don't know where they're being bundled.. Probably not anymore
