You don't have a mana pool per mage, you have a limited number of spell uses before you have to rest your party to renew them.

Most likely Warrior, Red Mage, Monk, White Mage. Might swap out Red Mage for a Black Mage, hard to say, it's nice to have both Attack and Healing spells on Red Mage.

played it either for Christmas in 87 or maybe summer of 88. its been a long time since I've played the original. Last time I played FF1 I killed the first boss and skipped everything else to get the airship and then power up the classes at the Castle of Ordeal .

I've only played FF from the 6th one up, and I've always chosen my parties based on the characters more than their roles. I've always had a fighter tho (Tiffa, Sabin Figaro...), so I guess I'll have one here too.

Well, the combat system changes every game so it makes sense to see sizable changes when comparing the 1st one to the 6th one. Still I can't wait to try how it was in the original FF, so I'm crossing my fingers for this givaway!
