This really sounds like a wind-up from a bunch of psychopathic psychiatrists.

"You've a fear of long words, that's hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia"
(dull thud)
"That's another one that's fainted"

So not only is it a word for the fear of long words but it's also a way to self diagnose. If that word scares you, you are hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobic!

hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia

let's break it down
hippopoto - hippopotamus (large)
monstrose - monster (scary)
sesquipedalio - from sesquipedalia verba ("words a foot and a half long") coined by the poet Horace
phobia - fear of a specific thing

Not so scary anymore, is it?
