Hey, I've just sent the last gifts in the recently ended GnC Summer '19 community event. It's been really fun and I hope everyone who participated had fun also and the winners are happy with the games they got.

Sadly, out of 1500+ entries (300 in the first hour only) artworks got... 0 new likes total. Even the open question in the description gets fully ignored. SG has changed a lot since its beginnings, that's for sure. I wonder if these are mostly bots...
Would really like to see captcha necessary for entering public giveaways, but sadly that will never happen.

I don't know about bots, but even 'real people' tend to avoid even seeing descriptions completely: the mandatory description popup change in ESGST was met with so much hatred.
I was not here in the beginning of SG, so I don't know if the situation was different back then. But I'm sure the captchas would get a lot more than just hatred. So, yeah, it will never happen...

Well, back then, actual people actually browsed the website using their browsers and eyes and read questions, answered, communicated... Like we are talking right now. It was a community of sorts. Now I feel no one even enters the page, they just click buttons in scripts. 90% of them would use autojoiners if it was legal. Maybe I have the wrong impression, but hey, everyone is allowed to prove me wrong by responding to that one question - if they even see it.

This is a giveaway website, so a lot of people came here just to get free games (and then idle them for cards), so they don't need anything else. I'm not defending them of course, I'm just trying to find a reason why. I came here myself because of the possibility to get free games (except for the thing that I don't idle and don't care about cards and +1s).
I can still see some communication in closed groups giveaways, SG discussions, Steam groups and Discord servers. So my bet would be that actual people just moved to all that places, instead of public giveaways, filled mostly with bots. I might be wrong though, and the site is really dying. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Reforced recently (2 weeks ago) did a sneaky test to see how many people loaded the giveaway description vs how many people entered the giveaway and it turned out to be that just over half of the people loaded the description.
A decent amount of them(us) are probably just using a script to just add the enter button, but the rest is just depressing.

If my point was to blacklist people or something, sneaky test would be cool. It's not. I'm just sad there's no basic interaction anymore and everyone is just grab grab grab...

Never said it was done for the blacklist and I am pretty sure Reforced did it out of curiosity. I just thought the data was interesting and shared it :)

ESGST has a feature to make all images lazy-loaded. Don't know exactly how it's implemented (and too lazy to look ^^ ) , but It could have affected the results of the test, I bet esgst is very popular.
But anyway, loading the description doesn't mean reading it.

tl,dr; almost all sg members are bots or act like bots which makes them bots for all intents and purposes. :)

This is an old event and there's no hidden giveaways in the latest one, just 2 that are available from the thread. Sorry, you looked too hard for nothing this time. :( The giveaways you saw in my profile are linked from another thread of mine (FIBA WC19), not part of this event.
