Notice: Since Rocksmith isn´t usefull for everyone and its not seen too often on SG, please be fair and only enter if you are really interested in it! You will need a real guitar or bass to play this game!
What you need: For the best experience, you will need any electric guitar/bass together with the Real Tone Cable. There are also ways to use other cables instead, but I´m not sure how good they work.
Since the newest Patch you are also able to use acoustic guitars together with a microphone. No extra cables needed.
The third option is to use an acoustic or electric guitar without any cables or microphones and just play along with what you see on the screen. This is still nice for practice, but you will miss out on a lot of fun and functionality.
What you get: If you like to learn playing guitar and/or bass, this is an awesome piece of software for you! I´m a beginner guitarplayer myself and so far its the best investment I made into this hobby ^^ Its enough of a game to be lots of fun, but overall its more of a learning programm and will teach you a lot about your guitar and its an awesome way to learn specific songs.
I´m not sure how good it is for advanced players, but I think everyone will find some level of usefullness and fun in this.
Its a Steamgift and will be sent by email. Enjoy and Happy Holidays! :D

Thanks and best of luck to you :D You´d definitely deserve to win it!
Yeah, the huge amount of DLC is eating away my Steamwallet too ^^ But its absolutely worth it!

I was given a guitar and real tone cable when a friend moved to Germany, so it'd be nice to be able to use the cable.
Thank you for doing a very rarely seen giveaway

Since I´m from Germany, it would be a funny coincidence if you win this ^^

Thank you for such an excellent giveaway! I'm a bass player, and I have wanted to learn to play guitar properly for a while, bought a guitar some years ago, but haven't had anyone to teach me, but Rocksmith seems like an excellent tool for that (as well as having some fun 100%-ing some songs on bass ;D). Just would need the cable, but I would so get it straight away if I were to win this giveaway. If you were to check my wishlist you would notice that Rocksmith is in the #2 spot and has been on my wishlist since 2014, one of the oldest items on there :)
Great that you warn the entrants about the nature of Rocksmith so no one would mistake it for being like Guitar Hero and something that would be playable with a controller or a keyboard. The sad truth is however that there are thousands of members here on Steamgifts who enter everything that they have a chance at winning, even things they don't have any intention of ever running . For many, they think it's even better if the game has trading cards, which can be sold for a small profit :(
If you were to check the previous Rocksmith winners in the archive you would find that only two of them (two of them last time I checked) has ever gained any achievements in it, and there's even an achievement for just connecting and tuning the guitar, so that means almost no Rocksmith winners from Steamgifts have ever used it.
One of the giveaways was from someone who did a thread in the forum where other members were asked to post pictures of their instruments together with a note with their username, to gain access to the giveaway (it was whitelist or invite only, can't remember which one). That one got people who were interested in actually using Rocksmith entering, and the winner of that giveaway is one of the two with achievements gained.
It's too bad that chances are slim that someone will actually play this, but I really hope this gets a winner who would really play with a guitar, it seems like such a great tool. I at least know PeteOzzy would be up for it, that's a reliable member :)

Yeah, sadly there is no guarantee that the winner will actually use it.. I myself gotta admit that I often join cheaper/bundled game-GAs without thinking much about it (since I do love collecting games & cards), but when its something of higher value or rareness, I usually don´t enter to give other people a better chance (unless I´m really interrested in the game of course).. and when the GA-creator specificly asks people not to join "just for +1" I always respect this, even if its a bundled-game.
I know there are countless great people in this community, but for every one of them, there are still hunderets that will join anything without thinking or without even bothering to read the description. I just hope that the higher level-restriction works in favor towards the more respectfull users.
I like the idea you mention with the forum-posts :) If my steam-wallet has any money left towards the end of the sale, I might get another Rocksmith-Copy for SG and do that too. In that case (and you don´t win this one) I´ll be sure to give you a shout ^^
But for now, best of luck to you! :)

When I do giveaways for cheaper games I don't care much what happens with the games, but when I've done more expensive giveaways (like one of my recent Fallout 4 giveaways) I was actually lucky enough to get a winner who started playing it the same day, felt nice, and good to know an expensive game went to a good home :)
People might get in the mood for downloading and playing some random bundle game they didn't think much of when they won it, but Rocksmith is quite different since it requires such an investment (the instrument) just to be able to try it out, so a "random" winner would probably not use it, even if they would play a random game.
...with this in mind, and also that it's quite expensive (even with the sale) I think it would be quite a scum move by someone entering this just for the €0.20 in cards :( I really hope someone who would play it wins!
In theory it would be possible to delete a giveaway and redo it in another way, but I'm not trying to tell you how to do your giveaways, that is up to you. I'm just very happy for getting a chance at it (even if it's small with the 200+ current entries) :)
Thanks!

Wow excellent giveaway! I'm not even entering for lack of guitar skills (and a guitar), but just wanted to say thanks on behalf of everyone.
