The new game looks cool too, but I've been wanting Ori for a long time.

Limbo and Braid are probably probably my semi-recent favorites. Thanks for giving me another shot at Ori, it has been on my wishlist a while.

Hollow Knight looks adorable but a bit "shiny" if that makes any sense?
I regret not snapping up the original Ori when it still had a viable page.

Favorite Platformers?
Um, I've enjoyed "1000 Amps", "Fortune Summoners", and "Megabyte Punch". "Armed with Wings" is a pretty slick title, much like how "Dust An Elysian Tail" has a smooth combat system, but is more striking thanks to its graphic style. "Crystal Towers 2" is different from the usual setup with its metroidvania style hub-world, Super Mario 64 style level missions, and a point system that has more in common with Tony Hawk than your average Platformer.
Pretty sure many would add "Shantae" to their list (I would but lack most of the titles). I got "Inexistence" on a whim but "The Joylancer" and "JumpJet Rex" are better. "Khimera" is free, as is "Baezult" and "Mandagon".
Not sure if you'd want games like "Poi", "Polarity", or "Q.U.B.E." since they're 3D platformers rather than 2D sidescrolling ones (however "Red Trigger" is free).
I keep meaning to buy "Magicmaker" but the demo is pretty great. "Momodora" is an awesome series, similar to "Cave Story" but they are two different animals. Which reminds me: there is a demo for "La Mulana 2".
"Olympia Rising" is a pretty cool Greek Myth inspired title.
The developers of "Noitu Love 2" and (I know this isn't a platformer) "Tick Tock Isle" have made lots of amazing and free platformer games if you're willing to go off-Steam.
"Where is my Heart?" has this one level that makes me scream. It's a platformer that has the map broken up into different frames that you can see yourself in. Some levels are a snap. Others are tricky. Then there's ones that hate you and your need to figure out how it all lines up.
Through this site I won a few titles like "Shu" which is gorgeous but some levels are genuinely pissing me off. "Unepic", another one I won, is more of an Action-RPG in a Metrdoidvania map than a platformer. "Munin" has me regret ever wanting it in the first place. "Closure" is pretty cool though. It's... weird but it was a unique setup and tricky without being outright evil.
Looking forward to "Moira". Its got a Demo by the way.

I've loved so many platformers over the years. I enjoy the nintendo platformers on their various consoles, because, let's face it, they are probably the best in the business when it comes to platformer level design.
I also loved Rayman origins and legends.
I've also enjoyed a lot of smaller platformer titles such as Fitz the fox, Job the leprechaun, life of pixel, nightsky, stick it to the man, thomas was alone, dust, and Guacamelee. I'm very interested in playing ORI one day.

Super Metroid and Symphony of the night are the best metroidvania games I played. Recently i enjoyed Odallus.
Ori and hollow night look good but I haven't tried them yet :)

That looks really nice. Thanks for sharing - I'd honestly never heard of Hollow Knight until now.
I'm rather fond of platformers. I often pick Megaman Zero 3 as my favourite. I've probably spent the most time playing Spelunky. Not sure if Aquaria counts as a real platformer, since it's mostly underwater, but that's simply brilliant. Been playing Shantae a lot lately and have been very impressed.

Thank you and.. Rayman is very cool =)

I usually avoid platformers. Ori and the Blind Forest seems to be much more than your average platformer, however. It seems to be much more than just a "jump from place to place until you get to the next level" kind of game. Child of Light is another platformer I found interesting.

I haven't had much time for SG, lately. I wouldn't be able to fulfill any additional responsibility.

I'm actually coming to the conclusion that the best platformer on Steam is Out There Somewhere. It's adorable, fun, somewhat original and just the right amount of easy. On top of it all, its value for money is extraordinary.
Out of the platformers I've completed recently, I really liked Moonlight (another adorable one! a little too easy maybe) and Thomas Was Alone (yeah, came late to that party). Planet of the Eyes, while not a h/c platformer as much as it is a walking simulator, I loved a lot too.
Out of my current 'games in process' the best one is So Long Earth, hands down. Space + platforming + humour + nice art + jokes about the French -- it's got everything!

I enjoyed Out there somewhere. But Oh..... that one spaceship level drove me crazy. I for some reason just could not get past that. It took way to many tries. Other then that one level. I enjoyed it a lot.

Hollow knight seems neat.
My favorite in the genre is shantae and the pirate's curse. Haven't played those many tho. Played a bit of Shovel Knight and really liked it, hoping for it to be on the next monthly

Jazz Jackrabbit was the shit.
Platformers tend to be boring and repetitive. Very few manage to get you to keep playing. Some games that I've enjoyed:

Ah, yes, Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was uber awesome!

I'm generally not a big fan of platform games, but I've wanted to play Ori for years now, because I really like its art style and the story seems interesting too. Previous platform games I liked was Child of Light, that old Lion King and Aladdin game, if those counts as platform games, and Jazz Jackrabbit, which was also ages ago. :D

Forgot to add; Hollow Knight looks very interesting, thanks for the heads up.

I guess Metroid Fusion, I've probably played quite a few but not many stick in the mind, Duke Nukem 2/3D and Crash Bandicoot 3 come to mind next. I've seen that Hollow Knight looks similar to Ori in a way I guess.

Rayman; old platformers from Titus and not exactly platformer but Limbo. I like the look of Hollow Knight, added to wishlist.
