Well,yes you're right,it's mentioned as a product update,but it says :"Added .mp4 file extension for iTunes support".
This is the DLC that actually CONTAINS the .mp4 enabled,and non-DRM iTunes songs.Also in a older update,this show'd up"Added iTunes/m4a/aac support via DLC (This is to cover the acc licensing costs)".Check yourself mate: http://store.steampowered.com/news/?feed=steam_updates&appids=49600.The 14 July 2010 and then 26 May 2010.I didn't make them up.As well for others.
