Hey there-- just wanted to make sure you didn't mean Fritz for Fun 13 from today's BundleStars bundle. If it's Fritz Chess 14, then all the better! =)

Oho, somehow I was expecting to read "sorry, this is really the Fritz bundle game" in the description, wasn't expecting the real thing... :)
So, thank you for giving this away! Not entering your giveaway, just visiting... :)
I get the impression Fritz isn't considered terribly strong any more, but against humans it hardly matters... :) I hope the winner at least knows how to play chess... :) But don't check, it will probably make you cry... :(
Hmm, used to be 2000-something a long time ago, when you needed to be over 2200 to get a FIDE rating. Did a lot of playing, but not much learning. :) So, the typical bad club player, I guess. :)
Hmm, this is making me wonder, where did I put all my chess stuff... :( Had a lot of books, chess informants, etc. Must be packed up in boxes, or did I give them away? Forgot them somewhere? Guess it's all garbage nowadays, everything is on a computer... :)
Good luck everyone else! :)
Edit:
Apparently if someone marked your giveaway "not received," you can send proof to Steamgifts support and they can fix it. I don't know if that is actually true, but I remember reading it in a forum message. :)
So if it was a Steam gift, take a screenshot of "View Gift History" in your inventory screen. If it was a key, you could send a copy of the email or whatever.
Also, if you ever have a legitimate "not received" you can still send the game later, and the winner can change it to "received." :)

this happed aroun 8 month ago, and i don0t any evidences, because, why someonewill change the to "not received 8month later"? At really Idk so np.
whoa 2200, When I get my fist national ELo the minimum for the FIDE was 2000, OLD GOOD TIMES
PD:2000 rating isn't the "tipical bad club player" :p

If your "not received" giveaway was for a gift copy of a game, check your gift history in Steam. Mine shows every gift I sent, the date, and who received it. But if it was a key in the Steam chat window, yeah... :( Guess some people are jerks. :(
Well, I played in enough tournaments to know I was bad. :) Someone weaker might have thought I was good, but everyone else would know better. :) I guess that is the fun of ratings, anything can happen in one game, but over many games the strong win and the weak lose... :) And you don't have to wonder how strong the other person is, you can look at the numbers and know, aha, he can beat people I can't. :)
I suppose it depends on the club, sure 2000 was better than a beginner, but there is a big distance between "better than a beginner" and "actually understands something about the game." :) It's been so long since I played, so I don't know where people finally can evaluate a position correctly, and find strong moves for both sides. Maybe 2300? 2400? I remember one Fide Master person was showing me a game he played, and at one point he said something like "This is the sort of position where a Grandmaster would beat me from either side." :)
Hope the winner of your giveaway gives it a fair chance, even if they don't know much about chess yet... :) It's a great game... :)

You can found FM around 2350ELO XD
Around 2150 I think all the people can evaluate all the positions, the difference in this level/tier, is how fast, and how many moves dept you can analyse/see

I've tried to play chess, but I haven't had much luck at it. I think I have lost every single game I have ever played. But I keep trying and I guess thats what really matters right? :)
Thank you :)

I don't have an ELO rating in real life, but always wanted to know around wich number I would be. Usually play with a couple of friends during weekends, we are "advanced beginners". Have studied some books but nothing too deep. I would say I'm quite strong in openings but I lack confidence (knowledge of course) in endgame. It isn't strange of me to do a good match, being dominating and then just mess up everything with one or two really bad and careless moves.
Used to play Chessmaster XI wich comes with lessons from Josh Waitzkin. A very nice feature.
Thanks for the awesome GA! Do you have an ELO yourself?

mmm If I remeber atm I've 2153 regional and, 2053 national ELO but I Stop playing valid ELO tournament so many years ago, many years ago in my best moment I have a performance (real level in tornaments) of 2300FIDE
The opening are full theorical, and you learn a lot from books, but you need have real level for play well outside the theory or in the finals
As teacher I recomend star learning how to play the finals and the tactic in medium games, like I sayd yet, you can learn later from books the opennings an theory. GL!

No Elo, but I know that it's not an acronym, it's someone's name!
Won a minor chess tournament, but my main game was Scrabble.

I'd have to google ELO, which likely betrays my level of skill

Don't have an ELO, I just play casually with co-workers during lunch break sometimes. Maybe if I win this could help improve my game

I stopped playing league and tournaments over 20 years ago; I can't even remember my best rating, below 2000 though ;) Still miss it sometimes, see avatar :)
