So, this game just came out and it looks like it's going to turn out very cool. :D You know what that means! It means it's time for me to scoop first giveaway for it! (I also gave away the first Cities XL 2011 and Double Fine pack <which is Psychonauts + Costume Quest> on SG. :D )
Evochron Mercenary puts you in a space ship and basically lets you freeform your way the rest of the way, including planetary atmosphere flight. If anyone watched the EVE Online presentation at E3 several years back where they had a ship from EVE fly from the normal in-game space environment we're used to down into a planet's atmosphere, allowing it to blast ground structures and jump in and out of the planet's gravity well as desired. While this hasn't actually happened in EVE Online yet (although they're still slowly evolving their game), Evochron Mercenary seems to be the product of a group of game devs who watched CCP's presentation and said, "You know what? Why don't we do that?" You can play single-player or multiplayer, and character profiles and their ships and equipment are equally available in both modes.
16 and a half hours only, everyone! Good luck. :D

Thanks. (Not entering, but it's cool that you make it available at Steam Gifts.)

I own a copy, and I haven't had a lot of time with it yet but it looks like it's got the potential to be a blast. Also, it's actually free advertising for the developers, so hopefully this helps build the game community so it can thrive and grow. I'm far from able to make a judgement, but if the game delivers on even half of what it promises, I'm going to love this so much. So much so that I fear I'll have to get myself a joystick a lot sooner than I'd expected.
Usually, when an indie game is priced at $20-25, you should expect work equal to a $40-$50 AAA-budget title from a big publisher in terms of attention and care, along with the attention that the community is able to get from the devs (in terms of support as well as relationship, being a smaller and more manageable group and being that much more critical to a small dev team). It's not always true but it's my rule of thumb if there's no obvious quality flaws from the looks of things. So I figure I'd do my part to encourage things I like. :D
