I would add that doing what you can for your elderly parents is often difficult, but it is the right thing to do. When they finally do pass on, you will find comfort in the fact that you were there for them, you spent time with them, and did all you could do. In addition to the memories it creates, caring for them will leave you guilt-free and with no regrets which is a HUGE blessing.
Very hard to see your parents suffer illness, but it sound like your mother is in the best place now and that will lighten the mental load for you and your family. All the best for 2017 :)
