That's true of all collections on SG. SteamGifts checks for the "owns" flag, but a collection by itself does not have a "owns" flag, it only says "see all these other items". So, anything that is a collection will still allow SG users to enter their giveaways. It would take a lot of work to implement a "read every item in the list, then check each of those items individually" code to fix the problem.
Still, it's useful to mention for people who don't know how it works, so they can double check instead of just entering or giving away these things blindly.

That is interesting. I certainly understand if the collection was created by a different vendor (i.e. not Steam).
But when the collection exists on Steam itself and has its own page (https://store.steampowered.com/sub/320795/), I'd have expected it would be quite easy for SG to check and flag. In my case, in addition to showing all the individual games as owned, it also shows this collection itself as owned.

I get that, but Steam only goes "you own all the individual items of this package", not "you own this package", at least from their API's point of view. If Steam DID put a flag on a package that if you owned all individual items, the package itself would return "owned", that would work, but that's not how it's designed. It's kind of clunky to try to write this, but from Steam's point of view it goes like this:
Nowhere in the package page is there is an actual "owned" flag that SteamGifts can see to verify that you own the entire package. It is for display purposes only. SteamGifts would have to trace back to each individual item (in this case, #1 - #4), verify which of them have the flag, and display that information somehow. Also, do they go "You own X out of Y products in this package" or just "You don't own everything in this package"? Either one's going to require even more programming, although a binary yes/no would require less.

I was a programmer in a previous life. I certainly understand the logistics involved. :) I just had assumed that Steam did have the "infrastructure" to give a binary or true/false flag to any item that they placed on a separate page with a separate sub id and which they then show that I (et al) own. Not a big deal, I just found it interesting (and I might add, not well designed, then, on their part). :)

I am not 100% sure, but I believe that packages are like a single "key", hence owning all the individual items is not the same as owning the package/sub from steam's POV.
I have never purchased a package/sub before, but I assume that you can't refund a package partially too.
This is different from a "complete your collection/series" bundle, which simply has a similar interface as a sub, but is simply a discount scheme you get for purchasing (or completing) the whole series, at least afaik.
Note: The above is just a speculation based on my observation on how steam seems to work.

3/5? There are just 3 base games (+1 DLC) in this collection. There are a total of just 4 games in the series, afaik.

Well that's what ESGST tells me on first glance. Maybe one item got removed, because it also has the removed tag, but I can see 4 items when I click on the sub? I wouldn't know XD

I don't know, but afaik subs don't change like that. The sub ID would have changed, I believe. Maybe EGST has it wrong? Or maybe some item really was removed (probably replacing the normal base game + season pass with the GOTY versions).

From what I'm reading elsewhere, it looks like originally it was only the regular version of Arkham Knight. It was later (before launch, but probably after it was already posted) upgraded to the Premium Edition. Therefore ESGST is seeing two different versions of Arkham Knight related to the package, one of which was then deleted (from the package).

The last one is also the only one I haven't played from this lot. I was initially gonna buy it for my self, but then realized that I won't replay the first two, so it will be a waste, hence giving it away. This way I'll probably feel less guilty if I ever decide to buy the collection in future.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I deleted those GAs too. So, solving it would have just been a waste of time (unless you wanted to read the 1000s of character long description in that GA).
Anyway, since I bought some of these specially for that event, I'll be hosting a new event soon since instead of letting those go to waste. Hopefully you are able to enter that one.
I have asked someone to track down the culprit, but since they leaked it in AWA forums, they might not use the same username. And even if they did, and I find the culprit, there isn't much I can do, except maybe BL them.
