My contribution ratio has been making me feel guilty, so have another giveaway.
Have you heard about the Pathologic remake? It's a game that cleared Kickstarter last year, though unfortunately didn't quite make it through the stretch goals. Funding's still open, but they expect to close that before too long.
Wait, you haven't heard of Pathologic?
It's a game about life, death, and hard choices in a bizarre, forgotten steppe town with a rampaging, merciless plague. You're there to stop it, but you can't save everyone. Maybe not even yourself.
The original game was brought to my attention thanks to one of my favorite artists and RPS' spoiler-laden Butchering Pathologic series. It was just bizarre enough to be fascinating, more so after I played a bit of another of their games called The Void.
Take a look if you have time. See if it's something you'd be interested in too.
EDIT: To be clear, there soon will be three versions of the game, (1) the 2005 original with the poor translation, (2) the Classic HD version that just came out (trailers here and here), and (3) the Pathologic Remake above which will keep some of the basic story but add/change quests and other things. The Remake is the one that could still use a bit of funding for fun things like finally getting to see the inside of two mysterious buildings, a small prequel, and (the one I'm most excited for) the ability of the plague to speak through dreams (no, this is no normal plague).
Discussion: Have you ever seen a Kickstarter pitch video weirder than THIS?
("How are you today? OK?" No! Get your hands out of my chest cavity!)

You've got me intrigued! The game concept sounds amazing, even if survival adventures are not my cup of tea. And yes, this is by far the weirdest kickstarter video I've seen. :D
As for The Void, I really liked it, the only problem is, that it's too slow and you can definitely screw yourself in such extend, that you have to start over. I've never finished it.
Edit:
Also, thanks for the chance!

Heheh. :) BTW, I forgot to mention that there was actually an HD remake of the original game that was released in the past few weeks. Apparently it was made because they wanted to release a better-translated and textured version of the original, as they're planning on making the actual remake somewhat different.
Same here. I heard ahead of time that you could back yourself into a corner. All that did was make me second-guess everything I did. STILL stuck behind Uta and Ava. I know there's a patch to make the game easier but I'm not quite that desperate yet. The walkthrough though... :P
And you're welcome! :D

I have two words for you: crystal bacon.

Well, that was certainly strange. And yet, with the Internet's fixation on bacon, somehow not surprising. XD
Thank you. :)

I haven't played Pathologic yet, but it's been in my backlog for a long time. Will probably give it a go before year's end.

Ah, the original one. From what I've heard, prepare for a translation worse than Zero Wing!

(yes, I know =) I also recommend you The Void (Turgor) from the same studio. And Knock-Knock)

Yup, played part of The Void and loved it. Knock-Knock's on my wish list. :)

Ah, the Void is wonderful in Russian (since the closing poems are originally in Russian and it's hard to translate into English...)
Knock-Knock is wonderful visually (like everything Ice-Pick Lodge does) and really scary (also kinda mindblowing), and doesn't use cheap tactics like jumpscares.

Out of curiosity, which version did you play? From what I understand, the story was rewritten between the initial release of тургор and the English and German versions of The Void. I wonder if there's a Russian version of the re-written story.

There're two Russian versions, Тургор and Тургор.Голос Цвета (Turgor. Voice of Colour), and as I understand it, the story is more intense in the second version. I have both the steam version (which, I presume, is translated and adjusted Тургор.Голос Цвета) and Тургор.Голос Цвета in Russian (even have the disks =3) but I tried playing the original Turgor when it was first published. Don't remember much, though. Голос Цвета has quests (sort of) that Brothers give you (like.... daaaaaamn, are you serious? kill the Pangoline in two cycles when I only have four hearts? that was the first quest one of the Brothers gave me) and there's an additional ending that the original version didn't have.

Yeah, that's what I'd heard, that there was an actual, focused, totally-different story in the re-write, but I'd also heard that some of the characterization had been cut.
I don't remember that one having a cycle restriction, but I also haven't cleared it (stupid critter); the one I had was tapping color in two areas. I did hear about the latter though, it's odd that they cut it.

Sadly, it's hard to find the first version now (well, except pirating... but they are a good studio, I wouldn't want to pirate it). I wish that some day I would have enough time to play through both Russian version and English version x)
And damn, I want the old Pathologic HD!
And the new Pathologic!
And everything!
If only I was allowed to write my thesis about them! About their work on the remake of Pathologic. But I'm not allowed =\

Haha! That'd be a fun thesis.

Seems interesting. But it will be what genre? Point and click?
I think I like the concept, history and theme but I'm not really into Point and Click games. :(
Comment has been collapsed.
I understand. It's more FPS/RPG from what I can tell. It's not a static-screened point-and-click puzzle game.
I'll admit I haven't played the original; the HD version's on my list after I'm done with MGSV. The Remake won't be done until next year, I think. The video above is for the Remake.
