Hard to say, really, across all those years. I was a kid, and played with his kids - parents are background figures at that age. He was always great with me, happy to see me in the lobby and so forth. I got him once with a hand buzzer, which was a highlight of one of those pre-teen years; it had newly arrived in the mail and I was carrying it everywhere looking for unsuspecting victims. It's fairly hard to find someone who will shake hands with you without being suspicious, when you're a kid. Joe came zooming down the stairs from the mail room and cried, "Linus! Put her there!" and stuck out his hand with a grin (he was a hand-shaker). My parents tell me he leaped straight up in the air and was hovering right on that line where either you laugh a good laugh or get really angry. He went for the laugh.
