Another one? PC gaming ideas are dying :(

i know right? whenever an obscure game idea like minecraft takes off dozens of blatant clones come on the market. it's disgusting to be honest

I take it you are no fan of evolution. Your argument is like saying you hate shooters because they are blatant clones, a new type of game needs time and the chance to grow before it can be clear genre.
Everything was a Doom-clone at one point if it was a FPS, now we have an entire genre for it with various flares and quirks that make for a great variety within.
Give it a chance to breath, evolve, and stop being such a downer man.

+1 to that. It's probably going to evolve into a new genre.

The clones were a byproduct of that evolution, not the cause or source of it. They were still terrible then and now. The evolution of the FPS genre was from games that struck out on their own to explore new ground. The fact this happened alongside a bunch of horrible pointless copies doesn't make those good.

Looks a lot more like Terraria than Minecraft, and Terraria's not really all that much like Minecraft.

To be fair, first person shooters used to all be called "Doom clones".

Crea plays quite differently from the others in the genre. It has plenty of its own personality and different features :)

I've sunken 350 hours into Terraria, and 8 hours into Crea. Crea holds its own and really breathes life into the genre. It's still Early on as well so there are all sorts of places this will go if they can live up to their planned features.

I would actually say the exact opposite. PC games are absolutely dominating consoles to the point that PS4 is the only one competing. Microsoft said fuck it will stay with our PC's since we own 90% of all OS's (A point I made a long time ago). The problem is exactly what you said - "Another one?". You're right there is way to many of them coming out but the reason I believe that's happening is because each one adds something the other game didn't. I am speaking entirely about the "survival-voxel-build-rpg-realism-etc etc" genre that is like a fusion of DayZ's survival realism simulator and the revival of the old (best) genre - free world space trading and combat simulators. (Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen are examples of the revival).
Someone needs to get smart and blend all the ideas into one without having to jump from Space Engineers to Kerbal because I want Newtonian physics and gravity, but also the ability to make space stations/ships and mine or raid a cargo ship from the materials I found and made. Honestly I can list like 50 space games right now that all have 1 or more awesome things but not have the other awesome unique things from others causing every new idea to be a full game.
I SERIOUSLY blame "Early Access" dumbasses thinking Alpha is the game and it'll update like a MMO. No, some will, most won't. It's Alpha testing ffs. Anyone here was a EQ2 Alpha/Beta tester, or any mmo for that matter at least 10 years back???? It's about helping the devs, you were to look for glitches and help provide ways to fix them. Less work more play.
Now days instead of having credentials or the understanding of alpha testing you have developers throwing out their games they have been making for the past couple years on "Early Access" Steam for profit. Don't get me wrong I'm all for the independent developers and their growth, but the fact that DayZ SA has over 1 million copies sold in ALPHA is fucking insane.
It's cashing in and making games as a "pay as you go (speed of our effort)" system. That's just wrong. Too many think alpha and beta are fully released games with just patching and developers see that ignorance and cash in on it for production of their game especially after Star Citizen's Kickstarter, Minecraft's sales, DayZ mod causing ArmA 2/OA (2 games) sales., then the standalone's sales. It's a smart move and I respect that, but it's causing harm to the community.

Ahem And apparently I write more than everything on this page in 7 minutes lol. Sorry about the novel, it has true points though so give it a read. TL;DR - Alpha testing no longer alpha but a pay as the developers build to help fund for a product you don't know will actually make it. Quite a gambit.

Thanks for sharing with us Aijou, that is actually kinda impressive that the reviews are all still positive.

It is! I work with quite a few games and I've never seen one with NO negative reviews after being on Steam, even for a short time. Very proud of this one! <3
