Description

Ok people, I don't know how this cross-region gifting works. So if I can't gift you the game on Steam (not a Steam key), I'm going to have to reroll the winner. I'M SORRY. I DON'T KNOW HOW CROSS-REGION GIFTING WORKS.

Requirements: you must mark the giveaway as RECEIVED if you win and accept the gift I send you on Steam. It will help my reputation for future giveaways. And don't be evil, just mark it as received, dude.

Also, I will request a new winner if you seem like an alt. I marked it as 0 level contributor requirement for those people who are pool and can't make giveaways.

I just got some advice and tips from good people in the comments on how cross-region gifting on Steam works. If your region uses these currencies: Swiss Francs, Thai Bahts, Japanese Yen, Euro, Taiwan Dollar, or Israeli New Shekel. You won't won't be able to receive the gift on Steam. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Join my Discord server. I'm currently giving away 20 FREE STEAM KEYS and also DAILY STEAM KEYS everyday! All you have to do is join the server and react with
πŸŽ‰ to the messages sent by the Discord bots: https://discord.gg/RK4cEch (did I mention they are NO REQUIREMENT?)

The game itself does not appear to be region locked but Steam also has cross-region gifting restrictions. Basically the way it works is you can check the game's page on SteamDB here, change currency from the drop-down to your own, and you should be able to gift to anybody whose currency is not more than about 10% greater than your own. (the actual percentage limit is not published and is simply blocked if it is "too great" so your mileage may vary). If you're in the USA it looks like for this game you might not be able to give to a winner in Europe, Japan, Israel, or a few other places.

The easiest way to do it (for sending a gift directly on Steam) is to simply restrict the giveaway to your country only. But if you want the most people to be able to participate then by checking SteamDB you should be able to figure out which places are going to work or not work.

If the gift is blocked it'll say something like "Due to regional price differences, the gift you are trying to send cannot be sent to the recipient's region."

One thing I have seen some people do in such cases is to send the winner a virtual Steam gift card for the price of the game in their local currency so they can buy it themselves. The gift card page is in amounts of 5, 10 , 25 dollars but I seem to recall you can do some javascript tricks to purchase an arbitrary amount instead. Dunno if that still works or not. But either way that's putting a lot of trust in random winner being competent and honest enough to follow through with that whole process.

You can gift anything on this site, so long as it redeems on Steam and it provides at least what the listing you've selected from the giveaway list promises. All SG cares about is if the relevant APPIDs get registered to the winner's account. The line you're referencing is for things which can't redeem on Steam, such as GOG keys.

I said I'm going to gift it on Steam. When you're gifting a game on Steam, not code or key is shared. It's just a gift (in an imaginary gift box).

how region locked stuff works

Go to the SteamDB page for the game you want to list. Make sure your currency is selected in the selection box in the top right. You can freely gift to any region with less than a +10% converted price. Going off the page for the game in question, that means regions which use the Swiss Francs, Thai Bahts, Japanese Yen, Euro, Taiwan Dollar, or Israeli New Shekel won't be able to be gifted to.

[cg's explanation on setting region restrictions for giveaways.] Best approach is to select the Steam Euro region, write down the resulting countries, and then do Select All. Afterwards, remove the Euro countries and the individual countries for the other five currencies. If you're feeling lazy, you can just set your giveaways to the NA region alone, though that'll of course make your giveaway much more exclusive for entry.

Note that staff may sometimes permit deletions for region restrictions but, given the liklihood of getting another invalid winner, getting a reroll is especially unlikely.

Generally, staff won't listen to any specialized reroll/deletion requests but, if you suspect someone is an alt, do be sure to report them (regardless of whether they're a winner of yours or not). Staff'll suspend them if they agree with your analysis, and you can freely reroll/delete off of a suspended winner. Do be aware you'll be expected to send the game if staff doesn't agree with your determination, however. Generally, you have to decide between low-level public giveaways and lowering the liklihood of fraudulent/exploitative accounts, so it's best to fully consider which approach is best suited for your aims beforehand.

The most intimating thing about Steamgifts I found was region restrictions on keys (use Steamdb and bundle links here on SG for region warnings). And you cant find how to look it up in the FAQs. Alot of my first GA's were blindly restricted to NA out of that fear.

With what you're trying, being in NA and gifting via Steam without a key. I still use Steamdb for each game to check what currencies are more than 10%. Sometimes a couple, sometimes alot. Plus, if the game is on sale, I try to have the GA end at least 5 days before the end of the sale in case the winner shows up late for whatever reason. I have acquired several friends in Steam that I added their country by their names. I can do a dry Steam purchase run to see if I can gift in Korea, Russia, Japan, EU, etc. The only friend I am missing is one in Israel. Steamdb is not perfect and so for far for me is over cautious, yet its a good starting point. Having friends in EU and Israel will show you what game can or cant be gifted from NA.
