Monthly Giveaway

Hello everybody, there is a lot of hate about the new epic store. What you guys think about it? I don't mind if there is an additional launcher for me besides steam, origin and so on.

Game includes Season Pass.

Good luck to everyone and remember to mark the gift as received. :-)

I don't mind too.
In fact, I'm happy they giveaway free games every 2 weeks.
The exclusives are mostly just temporary too.

I personally have no intention on making any purchases on the Epic store. They seem really anti consumer to me.

Me too. I only care for games I want to play, and good prices on them. All the rest is not of my interest. :)

The Epic store is garbage, anti consumer and barebones. Their free games are old indie stuff we already have if we cared about them to begin with. It's also not remotely secure, accounts get stolen with ease apparently.

I have no problem with having additional stores or launchers (as long as there's no subscriptions involved, looking at you streaming services), it's not like I have to be running every launcher at the same time like some people seem to think and it honestly doesn't take much to run one heck you just launch the game from it's shortcut and it opens the launcher for you if you don't have it running.

What I don't like about it is, Epic is rushing things way too much. They should have fleshed it out to compete closer to steam's level, like come on they could have at least waited until next year to finish their crossplatform API (friends, matchmaking, achievements, inventories etc currently scheduled for Q3 2019) up so they can compete with steam's matchmaking but nahh they launch a year too early with a half asses store that's hard to browse and has literally nothing to help consumers (the dev community has been complaining about the launcher which has existed since 2015 and it has hardly gotten any change other than a bit of UI redesign)

And let's not talk about exclusivity deals.. I would have absolutely no problem if developers decided "hey we'll sell only on this store", I mean a lot of devs do that with Steam already, but if you're gonna advertise a launch on Steam or other stores for a long time and suddenly decide to be a timed exclusive on Epic.. well no thank you I'll just wait or not play your game at all.

I don't mind other launches too much, I'm only playing 6 games atm and I need 4 launchers to do that...

The prices are a bit higher than Steam's in my country but not by much and they have local options but display the price in usd I don't know why.

Exclusivities are awful but we just have to live with it. The hype about Borderlands on my friends' discord died tho and this is the biggest turnoff to me, my friendlist getting splitted, If I want to talk to some friends I need to play hide and seek between launchers.

I do not like that they use their money as leverage to move things in their favour, e.g. Epic Only titles. That's not good for the market and not good for the consumer.

Big thanks for this giveaway! ✌

In general it's good to have another kid on the block that aims to de dethrone Steam as the one-and-only go-to store for games. More variety means more competition and that's better for the consumer.
But Epic Store exclusive titles are bad for the consumer on the other hand. That's what I don't like about this but that's also what Valve did years back in the early days of Steam: Install Steam or don't play Half-Life 2 and CS: Source. That's how it all started, basically, and people hated it. I hate the exclusiveness for consoles as much, which is an even stronger gatekeeper for playing certain games.

So, to sum it up: thumbs up for the Epic Store and thumbs down for the exclusive deals (despite of me profiting from them).

I dont mind it too much either. Game devs can sell their products in a way they see fit. Yes.

Only thing I will mind is seeing bunch of new releases being single-launcher exclusives. (Just like BL3 being Epic Games exclusive)

And about Epic Store - i don't like what they are doing.
I don't mind using EGS, Steam, Uplay etc.. as DRM or library or what ever, as long as i can purchase games in storefront i like.
I wanted to buy Division 2 digital in muve - store from my conuntry - after it got released (no preorders for me), as it was priced about 20% cheaper than EGS or Uplay - unfortunately it was withdraw from other digital stores than those two. Ended buing boxed copy that went down about 40% down comparing to EGS or Uplay price.
So what i see - for now they just inflating digital games prices - boxed ones already got cheaper.

I don't care much about exclusiveness, but I don't like that EGS doesn't provide services on the same level as Steam. I mean such things like:
-Family Library Sharing
-Linux Support
-Achievements
-Community stuff (forums, guides, modes, reviews)
And maybe something else, but these are the things that are most important for me. So for now, I don't even consider EGS as a viable option for myself.

The sooner Epic crashes and burns, the better. They can't be bothered to compete with Steam on features, prices, support, catalog, DRM-free, or anything else that would actually push Steam to finally up its game and improve the PC gaming environment as a whole. Instead they take the scummiest road possible and pay for timed exclusives. They're nothing but a shitstain on gaming's underwear.

I dont mind another store, however I do mind:
-that it is a store with a bad privacy policy
-that it is a store that leaks data of its users
-that they use exclusivity in stead of competition
-that they don't care about it's usersbase
-when they do a sale that they remove certain games of the store because of bad communication with the publishers

I don't mind either. Pretty featureless now, but will get there. Looks like Steam in the earlier days. Remember when everybody kicked Uplay on all sides and I was reluctant to try it, but don't remember having one single issue with it after I finally did.
Thanks for the chance!
