It seems the FF16 PC port is coming out soon. I'm bit worried about it's timing only because SE has Visions of Mana launching in a few weeks and Romancing SaGa 2 out in October, so one of those two is going to get eclipsed. Neither of them are that big/popular and considering SE's new approach, I'm worried that any loss in sales will increase the risk of ending the series. Hopefully I'm just overthinking it.
Good luck and have fun!

referencing the article:
it sounds like their main focus is pruning "lower-quality" published titles from third-party devs. i know they developed forspoken, but i gotta assume that had a pretty big budget, definitely compared to any old school rpg. they already sold off the hitman ip a few years ago. i think as long as there's some lower-hanging fruit, then these first-party series that have been around since the 90's are probably safe. 🤞
at least we know that final fantasy isn't going away any time soon.

I think what risks ending those series is more Square Enix imploding or being bought rather than any change of approach. As the previous commenter said, this seems more geared towards the publishing side, which means no more things like Forspoken, but also no more things like Paranormasight which, if you haven't played it, is brillant.
So while I don't think they'll stop releasing smaller RPGs (without giving them a marketing budget, of course) alongside the Final Fantasys of the world, it's very likely that they'll stop releasing the weird stuff which also got no marketing budget (and Forspoken). That way they'll be able to keep blaming something for their mismanagement, I guess...
