This was my favorite game I beat this year.
This game has it all. Monster catching, friendship, romance, side missions, a great artstyle, lots of detail, challenges, a great soundtrack and a fun story.
What is your favorite game you beat this year?

Wow seems like I made a mistake hiding this one, entered!
Fave game....hmm conflicted between FAR and Tomb Raider 2013.
But I think i'll go with FAR: Lone Sails because of where I played it and how I perceived that experience during that time.

I've never heard of Far: Lone Sails but its now on my radar!

Dave the Diver. Was in the perfect headspace for it at the time, and played over summer between beach trips. Perfect ambiance. Weird little mini game interludes between some slowly ramping up fish harvesting.

It does seem like a perfect game for a certain mood. I think I just wasn't in the mood for it.

that's tuff, maybe frostpunk 2?

Have you played the first one? How does it compare?
Comment has been collapsed.
I think it's better but it takes some getting used to with all the factions and a lot more stuff to manage

cassette beasts, huh? i bet someone with pretty good taste must've introduced you to that game. π
my favorite is hard to choose, there's been so many good ones. i'm currently playing indiana jones and the great circle and it's one of the best i've played this year. still wakes the deep, nine sols, afterimage, animal well, ender lilies: quietus of the knights, pacific drive, hi-fi rush, and titanfall 2. are all standouts

I want to play Indiana Jones so bad but my computer can't handle it π Those all sound like nice games

have you tried running it? my specs are technically just below the minimum and it runs amazing.. 1080p60 no problem.
i have an i5 10600k and rtx 2070,

You're welcome!

Really hard question, played some wonderful games.
Control, Outer Wilds or Yakuza: Like a Dragon, most likely. Insanely good all 3, it's overused to say they are lifechanging, but they were absolutely amazing.
(Supraland and Mafia strong contenders, and I have Gorogoa and Abzu on a puzzle/chill side too)

I tried to hard to get into Outer Wilds but I just couldn't. I'm so curious about the story but I'm terrible with the whole game. Control and Yakuza seem like great games, I really need to play them!

Genuinely tough choice, beat so many great games this year. Just randomly picking one, Beacon Pines gets the win :P

Beacon Pines looks nice. That's been on my radar for a while

What is your favorite game you beat this year?
Days Gone

I still have to finish Days Gone. Great game so far!

Since you asked ok, you didn't, here is a Top10 list of games I finished this year:
Honorable Mentions: Balatro; Middle Earth Shadow of War; Oaken, Yakuza Kiwami (all 84/100).
Interestingly, only 2 of the above were not from GAs I won here. Thank you, SteamGifters!

Thats a nice list! I bought Balatro but I haven't started it. I'm not ready to be an addicted lol

For me it was A Plague Tale Inocence. Hits all the right notes for me. Cant wait to play the next one (but im broke and had no luck with the GAs lol). Requiem will probably be my next sale buy when i can

For me, it is Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, I really enjoyed all the spaceship battles, destroying Cylon's fleet or getting destroyed.
Wanted to play the DLC, but I accidentally deleted the base game save, so now I have to start with basic ships on DLC.
Also beat Vampyr at the beginning of 2024, quite enjoy the setting and the story of the game. Too bad there won't be a sequel

I haven't played Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, but I did enjoy Vampyr. It wasn't perfect but I think it deserves a sequel

Tough decision to pick one..
I think the stand out games for me this year were Dave the Diver, Hades and V Rising.
All fun in different ways!
If I had to pick a singular game, Hades might just win out, just because it kept my attention playing the same thing over after I beat the boss the first time, which is rare for me.

Hades is not the type of game I usually like, but it was so addicting!

My thoughts exactly!
I think the greek mythology really helped though, as I've always enjoyed it.

Hmmm, A space for the unbound. A fantastic game, very nostalgic , and a heart-warming (and tearing) story

ooo it looks great. I just added it to my wishlist, thanks for bringing it to my attention

Against the Storm, amazing city builder, which i will come back to soon to play all the new content and challenges left in it, highly recommend

I'll check it out!

Well, thanks for this giveaway! But just out of curiosity: Did you got this from the November Humble Choice? Because if so, just be aware that the keys for this game from that bundle are heavily region-locked.
As for the question, I think my favorite game I beat this year was Dragon Age: Inquisition! Yes, it's not perfect, but nonetheless, it was really fun delving back into the Dragon Age world! :D

I often struggle to pick a single favorite of anything, so I'll mention two stand-out games that I had the immense pleasure of playing this past year. I found The Forgotten City to be brilliantly clever, and I love how it tickled my brain... and I found The Last Campfire to be warmly endearing, and I love how it touched my heart.

Didn't finish really one last year, but the plan is to finish fixing the pc itself lol

For me, it was 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

Ghost of Tsushima, quite a nice game if you like samurai

The Talos Principle and I was left with the same feeling that I get when I finish a good book; thinking about it for days!

This one is a wishlisted game, here is hoping.
As for the question, I'm not sure. I played many good games this year, and quite a few left me thinking "this is the best one yet this year." I'm very recency biased so this type of question is hard for me. Most of the games I enjoyed this year are SG wins. It pays to be picky with what I enter, but having a broad taste means there's no shortage of choice.
In no particular order:
Eastward
Bugsnacks
Dishonored
Cats and the Other Lives
The Last Remnant
The Excavation of Hob's Barrow
The Artful Escape (because it's breathtakingly beautiful and I wanted to keep running through that world for hours. The store page screenshots don't do it justice. The gameplay itself is disappointing and the "fights" are just simon says)
Death end re;Quest
STASIS
Arcade Spirits

That's a hard question, I did replay Mirror's Edge this year and that's one of my favorite games that I play every few years but I don't think that counts... so either Tomb Raider 1 (yes the original, first time I played it and was through the recent remaster) or Demon Turf, in both cases I basically just played that one game for almost a month straight.
I might have a strange fascination with 3D platformers with female protagonists :P
