appreciate the chance!
Favorite memory? being around 13 or 14 yrs old and me and my cousins filled up a couple pillow cases full of candies that we all shared.
My aunt had driven us from one neighborhood to another until we were done and tired. Good times! :)

That does sound like a great time. Nice to hear we weren't the only ones who hauled giant pillowcases around to trick-or-treat!

My favorite trick-or-treating memory is actually not from Halloween at all. I think I was about 10 years old at the time.

I had some elderly neighbors, a married couple who never had children and lived alone. They were in their eighties probably. I never really had any interaction with them, but, for some reason, in the summer one year I decided to knock on their door and say "Trick-or-treat!" as a joke. But, being old people, they actually had a humongous jar of candy sitting in their living room and gave me some. For the rest of the summer, every day I'd go "trick-or-treating" at their house and they'd give me candy and what started as a joke turned into a really sweet series of encounters. They loved the excitement of having a visitor, and I of course loved the free candy (even if it was old man hard candy).

One day, my mom wanted to talk to me and said I couldn't go bothering them anymore. It turned out the husband had Alzheimer's (in hindsight, trick-or-treating in summer to someone with dementia was pretty inappropriate thing to do, but I had no idea what that even was at the time).

He was moved into a nursing home because it had gotten to the point where his elderly wife could no longer care for him. I actually went and visited him at the nursing home and he did not recognize me at all, it was a very sad and shocking experience for me as a young child. But his wife said my daily visits made those summer months enjoyable, it gave him something to look forward to, so overall I have good memories of "trick-or-treating" that summer. He passed away not long after and I was pretty shaken up about it.

That's a beautiful story, thank you for sharing it. Old age gets lonely, I'm sure you brought so much light into their lives just by visiting.

Well, we don't really do that halloween stuff here, it's usually just good ol' día de muertos a little later in the year, but there was a time during my childhood when the neighborhood actually cared about getting to know other cultures, so we had some treating, (althought tricks are frowned upon here); I guess we had only half the fun (and the whole cavities' problem); maybe it's cuz I've never been an outdoors' guy, but we always ended up playing Zombies ate my neighbors, resident evil or clocktower in someone's house. Good times.

Anyway, thank you for the giveaway and the ensuing ride on memory lane xp

I don't have any Halloween memories (yet), because tomorrow will be my first proper Halloween (as an adult xD). I bought a bucket of candies and pinned our house on a trick-or-treat map, but I'm still worried that no one will come 😅
