I can give you a simple explanation: I don't like to get notified for "nothing" (means: nothing intresting) - I have at the moment (since yesterday) 3 giveaways and I got about 20 notifications - most of them "thanks" or "thank you".
I don't think the people who don't read the description and copy/paste a "thank you" are sincerely thankful, it's more like a reflex - they enter and post. (Maybe because they think they should. Maybe because this site encourage posting thanks.)
And I'm not giving the games away because I am so generous, it's only because I already have the game(s).
