Do you use any framework or engine? I myself programmed with directx and opengl, definitely not the best way for programming beginners. I heard unity is an easy start?
Personally I like Unreal engine, but yes, Unity is a good start. I'm trying some engines on Steam first, like Leadwerks and Clickteam Fusion, these are pretty much "game developing for dummies", but I ought to start somewhere, right? xD
Haha yes it is hard. It's the misery either side is going through. The programmer can't make nice models for his fancy smancy game, the designer can't realize all the crazy ideas he has without proper programming. I took a shot at unreal engine as well. It felt not bad tbh and I think even as a designer you can accomplish a lot without even knowing how to program.
Still some knowledge about programming is required, even if things are "pre-cooked" on engines. I was training my modeling with some friends, one of them can program and showed me some stuff, it didn't seem hard to comprehend, but the process itself looked exhausting. For 2016 I hope to find work and mainly to be happy, healthy and the same for my family. Really I'm not expecting much only to have a better year than the last which wasn't the best year for me let's say. I wish you a good year too:)
