No, because if it happens, you can go to your won page and mark the game as not received (remember to keep a screenshot of the message that says the game has been revoked, just in case).
The way the initial giveaway had been dealt with was absolutely horrid. :( And this certainly isn't that good a solution although I guess it is all we have now. All in all the fact that this has forever tainted the image of an otherwise all right indie game is most unfortunate. :(

Although the dev has told people to contact him personally if they don't use Steamgifts, his level is much too low to accept enough invites, and he declines the bulk of them (I guess because there are so many) so basically for a large majority of the original participants there will be little chance of them retrieving their lost key which is very unfortunate for them. :(

What are you talking about, every account has to play minimum of 2 hours unless the game is bought from a retailer that has paid Steam upfront and will not be reclaiming the keys nor the money - then the cards will drop without restriction.
If you buy from uncertain retailer or straight from Steam = minimum of 2 hours before card drops, so you cant refund the game anymore.

The way most people check their drop times is by simply timing how long it's taking their cards to drop. Some games take longer than others, but if all games are taking that long, you know you have a restricted account. You can also open up a ticket in your support account and ask if you think your account is restricted. An account becomes restricted when a refund is requested or a game is revoked. The reason for this is to prevent people from buying games, getting the card drops, then returning the game for a refund because it's been played for under 2 hours. If it takes 2 hours or more to get card drops, then it eliminates that possibility of people abusing the refund system. I understand why they do it, but I don't think it should happen to an account the very first time an issue occurs. Unfortunately, though, it seems to.

Maybe do what i do and keep giveaway keys in a text file for at least 48 hours (usuallly longer).

The problem I see with this, is that if we miss this (for those that got keys revoked the 1st time) then in the end we are still SOL. So I guess I will just pass on this. Makes me have series trust issues with this developer.

What do my giveaways have to do with this? I started collecting games like this because i couldnt aford to spend money on them. Guys who organised first Drunk Wizards giveaway didnt ask people to spend money, instead they asked to advertise their things. I send all my keys that are leftover to my friends, because i would like to play some multiplayer games with them. Wouldnt it be better using it like that rather than giving the game to someone for cards?
And i would be hypocrite, if i scammed someone. As if i promised to give someone a game for doing something (although its minor advertising) and then not delivering it.
I don't begrudge anyone like yourself getting free games if they can't afford them. I often buy multiples of games on Steam or on 3rd party sites (not just bundles) just for the pleasure of giving them away. I don't require any thanks or respects. I don't even worry if some winners will merely cash in the cards. No jimmies rustled here.

No, see, cancelling a freebie is not "scamming". From the users' point of view, nothing was lost. From the evidence I saw, the developer panicked because they were concerned they might be in breach of their prior legal agreement with a bundle seller.
The promoter who allegedly spent their time and energy has some claim, but that's between them. As a promoter yourself, no doubt you side with the promoter. But some risk comes with every type of promoting, as you're hopefully aware, and those circumstance should be covered in your agreement with the developer. If that wasn't spelled out, well I feel a little bad for the promoter, but maybe they shouldn't be in the game.
Tangentially, there have been allegations circulating about some promoters engaging in extortionate tactics to bully indie developers into paying for their "services", and if that includes the promoter in question then I feel no sympathy. Even if it wasn't, you and they and the other promoters would be wise to hammer out some guidelines of professional practices, because if you want this to be an actual enterprise then the amateurs, as well as the extortionists, will be quickly squeezed out by those who know what they're doing and do it well. Ditto for developers, of course.

What do my giveaways have to do with this? I started collecting games like this because i couldnt aford to spend money on them. Guys who organised first Drunk Wizards giveaway didnt ask people to spend money, instead they asked to advertise their things. I send all my keys that are leftover to my friends, because i would like to play some multiplayer games with them. Wouldnt it be better using it like that rather than giving the game to someone for cards?
And i would be hypocrite, if i scammed someone. As if i promised to give someone a game for doing something (although its minor advertising) and then not delivering it.

I don't begrudge anyone like yourself getting free games if they can't afford them. I often buy multiples of games on Steam or on 3rd party sites (not just bundles) just for the pleasure of giving them away. I don't require any thanks or respects. I don't even worry if some winners will merely cash in the cards. No jimmies rustled here.
But seeing those who only receive complain that they were "scammed" because a free game giveaway went south makes me reconsider whether my generosity is misplaced. Maybe I shouldn't bother doing any more GAs for entitled level 0s like yourself.
If you want to shitpost on the efforts of generous people, go right ahead. But expect those who identify with the giver to think ill of you.

No, see, cancelling a freebie is not "scamming". From the users' point of view, nothing was lost. From the evidence I saw, the developer panicked because they were concerned they might be in breach of their prior legal agreement with a bundle seller.
The promoter who allegedly spent their time and energy has some claim, but that's between them. As a promoter yourself, no doubt you side with the promoter. But some risk comes with every type of promoting, as you're hopefully aware, and those circumstance should be covered in your agreement with the developer. If that wasn't spelled out, well I feel a little bad for the promoter, but maybe they shouldn't be in the game.
Tangentially, there have been allegations circulating about some promoters engaging in extortionate tactics to bully indie developers into paying for their "services", and if that includes the promoter in question then I feel no sympathy. Even if it wasn't, you and they and the other promoters would be wise to hammer out some guidelines of professional practices, because if you want this to be an actual enterprise then the amateurs, as well as the extortionists, will be quickly squeezed out by those who know what they're doing and do it well. Ditto for developers, of course.

Listen, i understand that im getting games for basically nothing, even though those games are indie and developers might make more profit off of them like this. But what happened with these keys is bad example.
"Canceling the freebie isnt a scamming", so basically if i promise something to someone, to give them return for their ..minor service, for example promoting my youtube channel, then i dont acctually deliver those prizes, i shouldnt be considered a scammer? Am i an example of good person then? Is that act good, and not to be frowned upon?
I can understand the gleam giveaway that happened, accidents do happen, however whether developer did it on accident or not, this might reflect on other giveaways where we could have more keys like this removed for no reason. And you are trying to say that i should still aptempt to do those even if i have chance to get scammed?
There are people who do giveaways genuinely for enjoy of sharing the gift and making someone else happy. Yes feeling generous is nice feeling aswell i understand that. However if they are given through gleam, it means that they are made for promotions.

I already acknowledged that the promoter may have grounds to complain. That's a separate issue. It's those who received and then lost free copies of the game who have nothing of substance to whine about.
I got a free key via the original gleam promo. Then it was revoked. Oh well. Easy come, easy go. How could I be upset? Maybe a smidge disappointed. I'm an adult. I got over it. In about a quarter of a second.
And now we're here in a giveaway thread by the same developer making good on ~the same number of free keys, and people are complaining. It's just childish.
