Those are some great portraits, I personally would like to see more color in them, but I get the ups and downs of each approach. I do feel tweaking the contrast a bit could come up to a nice result.
The game boy picture, though... Really outside of the box. Definitely captures the attention, and looks like a good, and wide, path to follow.
