I'm not entirely sure it's this game exactly because IndieGala says "Little Big Adventure 2", also it's an old unrevealed key so by entering you agree to remove the giveaway if it doesn't work for any reason.

Original dev of Adeline's found (somewhere in a cardboard box in her attic, lol) and released source codes for both LBA and LBA 2 to the open community, a couple years ago, essentially turning the original duology in straight up public domain content which anyone can freely access at any time. Why would you want Steam-tied versions of these games at this point, is beyond me, but, hey, great games still great nonetheless. More info (dev's post) - https://twinsenslittlebigadventure.com/devlog-2-releasing-lba1-lba2-engine-source-code/.

For me it's convenience. I like having all my games in one place with one-click install-&-play to the point I find myself skipping titles that don't come on Steam or have issues when run on Linux. Also extra stats are cool to have, knowing how much time I spent in each game, etc. On top of that having a cool game in your library is a flex and when it's open source I'd say it's flexing in a good way. It's also easy to find co-op or otherwise multiplayer games and filter them by friends so you can play together (this doesn't matter for LBA) and when friends want to watch your single player gameplay and have some laughs Steam gives you one-click way to stream to them and voice chat (this happened to me while playing LBA a few times).
I'm Steam oriented to the point I stopped playing Hearthstone because I was playing on mobile and found out there's a PC client - it installed fine and works without issues but I never played it again after this one time just because it doesn't start from Steam and the thought of starting Battle.Net just sends shivers down my spine. Can't explain it. Well, I can - I'm very f**king lazy.
Oh, and yes, it's a very cool piece of information - thank you very much! 🤘

LOL, I just realised you joined both giveaways and this is your strategy to convince other people it's not worth it 😂 good one!

I joined only because Steam versions are the only ones I still don't have (I own every physical copy on every platform they were ever released on, as well as obtained other digitally distributed versions, as I'm a huge LBA fan), so I thought "why the hell not?". Still, however, I was always a vehement anti-DRM advocate and spokesperson both online and IRL, so Steam will always be inferior to me personally in comparison with GOG's distribution and running model, for example. If the game is completely free or doesn't have stringent DRM, then I usually might consider getting it on Steam, but most of the times it's "enter a giveaway" at best, as I'm not paying for that on Steam of all places, out of principle. The game is decades old, GabeN and everyone else and their dog knows it's public domain now, but they still dare to ask money for it on Steam. That is a very bright red flag and a strong "no-no" in my eyes.

Just to be, you know, thorough... Gaben is asking money from 2.21 (publisher/developer), not from end users, and 2.21 is asking for their patches to the game that include:
Also, on DRM - IDK. I used to be against it but since I've got what people call a sparable income and since refund rules for software got regulated, I don't mind. I'd love to be able to sell games I have on Steam and don't play any more to other accounts so I find DRM bad on that front but other than that, mass piracy happens regardless - a DRM free version of any software is usually one download away. I'm not even sure LBA uses Valve's DRM. I think once it's downloaded you can play it forever even without Steam.

My main issue/pet peeve with Steam was always the fact that GOG allows to separately download full offline installers for games, after you purchase/obtain them, so on GOG the phrase "once you bought it - you actually own it" fully works without any problems, given the fact that GOG operates on strong anti-DRM principle. Well, at the very least, it does for as long as the game itself is not MMO or GaaS/online-driven by default. Steam doesn't have this functionality, so you don't actually own any games even if they're technically "completely single-player and offline", even very old titles that didn't have online functionality (multiplayer features or achievements, regardless) at their core initially. Hence why I have much bigger reservations and second thoughts/doubts when I'm deciding on purchasing something on Steam, while I never do on GOG, as I know that I'll always be able to download standalone separate and completely offline installer which I'll be able to store on removable media and use on-demand when I need to, at any time. Steam requires of you to run the client, even if the game technically doesn't do or have any MP or online functionality. It sucks.

"Steam delivery" is downright laughable, given how Steam usually operates, with DRM outta a and etc. GOG is superior in this regard.
Quote of him from the second ga. But he will join anyway.
downright laughable ??
Mmkay.
Eh.
Maybe he should not join and give others a chance to win this laughable version of the game...

Most of the time anyone can join my GAs. He's a fan of the series who doesn't like Steam but still wants all possible versions, that's okay with me.
Tak przy okazji, pozdro z Krakowa, whitelisted.
