Just a little more than a week until Christmas and I hope you had a nice and relaxing Advent so far.
Reus is a quite interesting new take on God games in which you are the planet and use elemental giants to shape the surface and create life.
I found the art style beautiful and the game has a unique unlock system where achievements give you new plants, animals or building projects for your next playthrough.
The normal game mode only lasts between 30 and 90 minutes which works perfectly combined with the unlock system but there is sort of a sandbox mode where you have unlimited time but can't unlock things.

Frankly, I found this game disappointing. The time limit makes it feel too hectic, and the fact that you lose your progress constantly makes it feel pointless. At the same time, sandbox can't really be enjoyed because it doesn't let you unlock things.

It's been a while since I played it and only for a few hours so I should give it another go sometime. On my first one or two runs it didn't feel extremely hectic but if felt like one of those games (like Westerado) where you can get 3 - 5 achievements on every playthrough if you group them right and have to repeat it often. I also disliked that due to the unlock system Sandbox gets a bit pointless but I guess it would be too easy otherwise. But considering my playtime what I wrote above was more first impressions that an in depth review.

Yeah, the game is fun at first, but after a few playthroughs it starts taking a 60 minute game to unlock 1-2 achievements. And with limited control over what projects spawn, sometimes nothing can be achieved at all.

Yea, that can be frustrating. I had the same problem when trying to get the last few achievements in Gods Will Be Watching.

I am looking forward to play this game. I added it to my wishlist when I saw it here and I was lucky enough to win a key. Thank you very much!
