I'm not an animator but I do have a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet, upgraded from Intuos 3 and I highly recommend both of them. The latest intuos has touch gestures and a rubber wrist rest but if you're on a budget a second hand intuos 4 should do everything you'd want.
edit. latest being intuos 5

yea tablets range in prices depending on the touch sensitivity so a cheap one might look good because of the price but the sensitivity might be an issue ( if your planning to spend hours using one i suggest you save some cash for a good one rather then a cheaper version that leaves your hand shattered after each drawing session)

wow 2D animation takes forever but lol at troll face, i have never used a tablet usually just draw out the frames or keys on paper then fill in the rest. and edit in after effects for extra visuals and compiling. I much prefer 3D applications like Maya which still allows you to convert realistic 3D to cartoon kinda like the south park look.

Thanks and yeah it takes patience and drawing skills which I lack both of, but I assume I will be more patient if I use a tablet cause it's easier to draw with.

I own a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet, been using it for 4 years without any trouble.
The newest model is Pen and Touch with touch functionality just like laptop touchpad, and the price ranges around $120. If you don't need touch functionality then you can buy the variant with Pen only which is way cheaper. I always recommend Bamboo if you are new to graphic tablet.

I animate as a hobby and I am trying to get better and maybe pursue it as a living or side job on the youtubes or something.
Anyways... I animate with a mouse and clearly that's not a good idea cause it's much harder to draw and control the "brush strokes" - you can see my terrible animations here if you would like
So, to you other animators out there... what tablet would you recommend? Probably more on the cheap side but what ever is good or what you use and you think works well or something.
so ye!
Thanks
