Mine is pretty bad haha, i actually have 2 that i switch between depending on what game i want to play so i dont put too much load on one or the other. Both are very old and ive had each for about 5 years now so they definitely have held their value :)

My first one is a Nvidia Gt 120 1GB video ram. (though it is old this is a great card even for today's low level to medium range gaming)
after 5 years on this card the fan on it is starting to make loud noises and gets slow when i game. I use it at small increments of time and it does fine :)

The second is a ATI Radeon HD 3650 256mb video ram. Im surprised that this thing can play some of the games it does like just cause 2 and things of that sort.

I know the cards i have are very very out dated but how about you guys out there? is yours possibly worse, equal or better than mine haha.
post below :) id love to see what games you are playing on that card as well

EDIT: when i get the money i am gonna go with the Nvidia GTX 660. Not as new as most today but enough for me to do what i want

Damn, you need to upgrade your system before you should think about upgrading your GPU. I had a core 2 quad OC to 3.2GHZ with a 670, upgraded to an i5-3570k @ 3GHZ and my FPS jumped 20%. Cant imagine a 660 paired with a C2D.

Im rocking 2 GTX 670's. One is an MSI TwinFrozr I bought new 1.4? years ago. The other is a EVGA FTW card I bought about 6 months ago for 115. Good enough for 1080p, figure I can stand to wait for the NEXT gen of gpu's to hit the market and pick up a sweet 1440p+ monitor too.

Dont get a 660, for the same price, you can pick up a 760 or better mate.

Optimally, you should only have to upgrade every 2 gens unless you insist on having the bleeding edge. You wont see much in the way of performance gain. Though, if you can sell the 770 to cover most of the upgrade, then its a wash.

Hmm ya I'm trying to sell it on craigslist but not much hope right now :P in fact I kind of upgraded my whole system because I was getting ready for hardcore overclocking + sli XD

I have a ATI RADEON HD 4850 2GB.
Really outdated but can run much of the games. But the most recent big ones (Far Cry 4, The Crew, AC: Unity, etc) can't be run by my card.

Time to upgrade!

When I got the money I will go for a Radeon R9 270 with 2 or 4 GB.

I have sigh intel graphics 4000, my laptop would be BEAST if I had a better video card. I have a 3.5 GHZ intel core i5 processor; but my dumb videocard bottlenecks my CPU like crazy. Unfortunately I can't add a new videocard, and i'm stuck with this laptop for around another 8 years.
It's not an old videocard, it just simply sucks (it's not made for gaming). I tried to overclock my videocard (I have a cooling pad); but overclocking the videocard is only for desktops, it's locked for laptops. Intel locked up their videocard like crazy, so it's pretty much impossible to overclock.

I'm in the same situation but I've been thinking on buying something like:

  • EXP-GDC V7 Beast
  • PE4L
Those are solutions to add a eGPU (External Gpu) to laptops, you only need an expresscard or mini-pcie slot in order to be able to use it. Check this forum Techinferno.

Quite an option, I guess, comes like 25$ cheaper (incl. delivery), would have probably given it a chance if I knew before ordering PE4C. Although seeing my laptop in the tested models list for PE4C makes me hope for a smooth installation.

Sometimes is better to choose a safe option, if I get a job soon I'll buy a PE4C myself.
Can I ask you which GPU are you going to use?

I got an 1GB Radeon HD 5770 for a test (the reasoning behind this card was: "The cheapest DDR5 1GB card with DX11 support I can get off eBay"), if it works out I'll consider upgrading later on, if not, I'll try finding something else.

A couple years ago I was running a 7300LE, worst thing EVER. Not that I cared about it, I hardly had time to play anything (4 kids, lots of work to pay the bills :) ). Then I bought a 210 like yours, had a good time because it could run Skyrim and that was all I wanted. Now I'm running a AMD Phenom II X4 with a EVGA GTX 460 SSC and a backup pc (Phenom X3 w/ Gigabyte GTX 550TI) for the wife.

Both my actual VGA are quite dated, but I play mostly indie stuff, so I'm not that desperate to get a high end VGA. The 460 I got from a friend that was moving on to a 780, but he said the first time the 460 couldn't handle a game was with Dead Rising 3, so I guess I'm pretty confortable with it. Also, I'm using a Seventeam 450W as PSU, and any VGA higher than that would require a new PSU as well (you should worry about it too, no point getting a new VGA if your PSU can't handle it)

I'm still using my 6year old PowerColor Radeon HD5550 1gb 128bit... I'm overclocking it to meet today's demands on games. I'm surprised though I can play multi-player in BF4 on lowest settings @720p with over 50fps with 64 people on the server. and I've played Watch_dogs on 15-30fps with this card... Planning to upgrade to GTX750 soon... It's a cheap but powerful card for 720p gaming IMO...

Most of the games published up to 2013 run smoothly at least on minimum setting. Unfortunately, more and more games require higher DX and/or pixel shader etc. Thinking about upgrade, but when speaking about pure performance, it has beaten most of the newer nVidia cards one year ago (except the highest and also most expensive series). Almost time to check again and finally buy new PC :)
