"if I can't then no one can!" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
it seems that thereby they want to blow up all NASA computers too, then no one will fly into space! very clever.

minimum: buy the strongest pc out there, recommended:burn your computer. forgot to add optimal: don't forget to dig a grave for your wallet

cuz logic -> with i5 u can play any new game(even for the next few years) without any problems and suddenly witcher devs tell u u need i7 for best experience ;),total bullshit lol I can bet u can even play witcher 3 on i3 3rd or 4th gen on ~ high specs with a decent GPU,lmao

Takes game off wishlist
No way in hell will I be able to run it. And no money for a new pc. :(

Aw. Only have a 670, so I won't be able to run on max. :(

The dx11 and 64-bit part I can believe, as we've had a few titles like this before.
The 6GB of RAM minimum makes me quirk a brow though.
"Official" minimum requirements put out lately always seem to be over-inflated to make up for lack of optimisation.
I still chuckle remembering Watch_Dogs specs.

well if you look how they don't give a fuck about specs comparing a 8350 to an i7, a 290 to 770... you can tell they don't give a fuck about what they are writings... someone said "well put some high grade stuff there...and some old mid range for minimum"

Well, The Witcher 3 was meant to be demanding as hell from the very beginning so I'm not sure why are you surprised there's i7 in recommended. As someone below said physics, AI, etc. are really CPU intensive in a world like that. I mean this particular world, The Wild Hunt's world which, as we all know, is filled up to the maximum with content.

and u know there are many other games like that right? just not as demanding but still utilizing even only 2 CPU cores they pull off hundreds of fps,I am pretty sure that even if I for example park 2 of my i5's cores on purpose when the game comes out I will still be able to play the game smoothly...

i5, 8GB RAM and GTX660.
Welp, at least I'm in the minimum range :-/

I'm just under minimum for GPU, CPU is slightly over minimum and I've got the recommended RAM. I guess that I can count on "cinematic experience" at ultra low details.
And by the way. I think there will be a visible difference between running on i5 and i7. 60 fps might not be achievable on i5. Physics and AI are rather CPU intensive in large environments.

LOL i5 2500K is better than 8350 most of the times and they listed 2500K under minimum and 8350 under recommended. I guess they only read that it has 4 ghz and 8 cores, but still performs worse than 3.3 ghz 4 cores 2500k...

The CPU requirement is probably nonsense; I actually have an i5-2500K and the newest generation i7 is barely better, with Intel getting lazy since there's not enough competition from AMD. Nothing much to expect there until Skylake. My poor HD 6800 won't keep up though...
Well, with this, Skylake, monitors supporting FreeSync/GSync, and Windows 10, it looks like my new rig is due in a few months. Nice how things are coming together.
