its truely a dark day when i my cpu becomes a MINIMUM requirement... jesus.

that said, it sounds like witcher 3 development is in a bit of trouble especially with the devs trying to optimise it, which is why it keeps getting pushed back. I would either expect the specs higher than listed, OR we could likely see another push back (in fact im kinda hoping they DO because the game doesnt sound close enough to release yet) to later in the year.

Impossible, requirements can only get lower. The game is already finished, REDania is spending next 5 months on optimization.

you're making an assumption there, considering they've stated that they ARE having a lot of trouble optimising it, and these specs could be what they were HOPING to achieve but realistically might not be able to. Either way, given the trouble the games development is in (ie being in permanent crunch time, and problems with the console version), with the game still being so far away and potentially pushed back even further, i would NOT place much faith in the specs above.

Ill simply buy in 2 years from now for small change and play on my new rig (I barely meet minimal req. now). Who needs premiere titles with 700 games backlog anyway :P

For me, The Witcher is always #1 priority.

I loved previous installments, I love the world, the books, but first, not to the point where I buy new rig because of the game, and second, I still have to finish previous ones. Oh, and third, I like to play my games looking best they can with high fps, so some have to wait for their time, like modded Skyrim or modded GTA IV.

I meet the minimum requirements already, and should exceed the recommended by the time the game is released. No sweat.

Could be worse. My i5-4460 and a gtx 760 will maybe be enough to play on medium i think.

This is such a flashback to The Witcher 2's release :)

I think the devs at CPR invest in Nvidia and AMD!

I don't know, they said something about optimizing the game for Nvidia more than doing it for AMD, and they use a lot of Nvidia's technology. The game will work way better on Nvidia GPUs.

You're forgetting that modern Windows and Steam client take a lot of those requirements. You won't run the HD remake on Windows 95.

even if they need to give supported OS requirements, it should like min for OS so those

Don't tell me HD on PC need more than integrated video card!

HD ver. will be available on Android and iOS for God sake

I never said those requirements are justified, I just pointed out one of reasons why they're much higher than they used to be.

Well, if medium settings satisfy you then sure. Just remember that games are more expensive and you can't upgrade your gear.

He can't upgrade, right, but he won't need to. That's a good thing about consoles. You buy one, and you can play your games for the next 5-10 years.

And since games must run on consoles, a PC with better specs will run games too until next-gen. :P
Matching isn't quite enough, since consoles have lower level access & better optimization due to single target, instead of need to support full range of GPUs.

PS4 price + Game is more expensive that a low end PC + game, and on the low end PC it will probably run better at the same settings as PS4.

This. Plus console can break after 2 years and you must buy new one. On PC I will just replace broken part.

I may not know anything about the completely ridiculous names they give graphics cards, cpu, motherboards etc. (Apparently GTX 770 is self explanatory, then? Fuck off) but I know for a fact that you'll either have to throw a bunch of cash out the window for a gaming computer or be lucky you already have a built computer. In-store computers are caveman constructions compared to built computers.

That is, if the requirements are true. Most games are BS especially since I still can't run Skyrim with my specs but at the same time I have the same quality with games such as the first Witcher, which requires less than Skyrim. My computer is pretty decent and Canirunit says I can run most of my games because I have both the recommended and required.

Metal Gear Ground Zeroes shouldn't run on my pc, not even at minimum requirements. But here I am running it at high. Don't trust everything they say about requirements.

Devs are obligated to post requirements higher than they actually are.

"Minimal" actually means "the lowest that makes the game enjoyable at all times", so no frame drops etc.

I don't even read, I know already that it won't run. At least I'll have some time to play Witcher 1 and 2 before I'll get a new PC.

Required specs are to be taken with a grain of salt, It looks like the game is optimized for quad core, but probably can take advantage of six threads, as the consoles that it seems all 2014-15 games are modeled for cannot use all threads for the game. I don't expect the game itself to use more than 3-4 GB RAM, the other 2-3 Gigs in minimum are for OS and background programs. The minimum recommended specs will probably play low-med 60 FPS, and my rig, with an 8350 and 650 ti 1GB would run out of frame buffer at anything more than low, while trying to melt itself.

I probably will not play the game for a while anyways.

You're absolutely correct, but with official specs we at least have a foothold.
