Being an absolute idiot I forgot to backup the appmanifest files before deleting the games from my library. I have all the data, but without those files, Steam will have to redownload the whole game again even if you have the data backed up somewhere else.

If anyone has GTA IV and Spec Ops the Line installed on their system, can someone please upload the files "appmanifest_12210.acf" and "appmanifest_500300.acf"? They are located at "Program Files (x86)SteamSteamApps".

Thanks in advance! I would be really grateful.

Edit: Forget about it. I have no data cap anyway, but fu*k Steam and their way of "backing up" games. I might as well use Origin from now on.

Nope nope nope, get used to that, appmanifest files have our account data, so no way to share it.

Never quite understood the mentality of some people who just want to see others get banned, aka people like you.

Really? "LastOwner" "..." then why you don't help the topic owner with your appmanifest

"LastOwner" is just your steam id, you know anyone can get that by just going to your steam profile, which is linked right here on SG, yours ends with ...5468 . I would help OP but I don't have the games he need installed.

You don't need it IMO. Install the game in the folder that has the game files. Steam should notice the game files and then do some checks etc and skip downloading them.

Validating files and boom 15 GB download. Man I hate Steam's backup system. It's easier on Origin.

You wrote the word "Origin" two times in this post and no one did reply that EA sucks and other stuff like that. 11 Hours later I was wondering... Where are the haters? Then I realize that probably they are crafting virtual cards to convert in virtual gems in order to place virtual bids on a virtual market.

Let's try this way: Uplay is great, way better than steam!

I used this method a few times, but first I had to start the game download (clicking install), paused the download, closed steam (not sure if necessary), moved the game files to the steam game folder, ran steam and verified integrity, steam downloads some files but not the full game, most of the times just a few mbs.

I recently got a similar problem where I uninstalled the game Insurgency, I managed to recover the files but not the appmanifest, so I just created the file and copied the contents from another appmanifest file I had, edited the appID, name and installdir. Verified files integrity and steam downloaded a few hundred mbs (instead of the full 8gb game) and fixed the appmanifest file too.
