You have guns, you shoot people/things, and you're in a first person camera-view. That is the definition of an FPS game, and despite it's overlying RPG element, Deus Ex fits that genre just as much as any of those other crappy FPS games.
Ignorance isn't an excuse. Try playing the game before you make stupidly generic accusations such as your own.

You would be right if Deus Ex contained only a few shooter elements. Such as having the ability to switch between camera views and being able to use other weapons as your main choice.
But in this case, Deus Ex fulfills ALL of them, right down to the detail. Thus, it is both an RPG and an FPS, since it fits both genre.
Oh, btw, Diablo is considered an RPG...

It's a first person puzzle game... it's not a shooter, you're just trying to make things difficult. Yes the gun shoots portals, but that doesn't make it a part of the shooter genre. ;)
