I love Steam Gifts. Are there any other websites like it and are they better or worse?

Indie gala had a site as well, which some day they plan to integrate with their bundle site, but they been saying that for half a year now.

Galagiveaways was really good, but nowadays the site doesn't have good giveaways, I think don't have more giveways, indiegala is working on a new site.

giveaways have really died, forums are all but dead, chat is somewhat active. I guess the events they run during the Steam sales are about the only time there is some activity worth talking about

Were the forums there ever really active?

It really died though, I stopped using it, and I really liked the concept.

It's just more like, there are not enough giveaways, neither contributors. Site is the same since the very beginning, nothing is happening, and the only thing that is, is the leaderboards event which killed the site, changing it from stable continuous fill of giveaways, into one-time-only massive contribution that is ending eventually, then new event is happening and so on.

No point in contributing there anything anymore.

It's not bad site, it's more like people stopped contributing because of the above. There is literally no reason to contribute anything if you can wait for extra exp instead, which means - site is living only when event is active. That's why "it's dead" is a very proper view on current situation.

It's funny after you said this the next day the announcement was made.
Are they watching? O_o

Most likely. However I doubt that those proposed changes will do anything good, apart from trying to stop the current situation. Many people left already, and PB woke up with their idea too late, but you know - as long as there is at least one giveaway, some people will always be there.

My boyfriend says I'm addicted to steamgifts. I don't know why would he say that. I just want to check sg at least once an hour (when I'm not sleeping - it's not that I'm waking up hour after hour to check sg, it's not that bad). :D

Any other site that alerts you with an hyped spacecat when you've won a game?

There is no place like SteamGifts. Period.

It's probably hard to find active SG-users in here who tell you that there are better sites than SG. When I googled your question once I found a thread in here and one over at Steamcompanion with the same question. And of course pretty much all users here said "SG is the best" and on SC they said "SC is much better". An since there is no neutral comparison, it's up to you what you like better. I like it better here, so I'm here.

EDIT: What I didn't found where any other real alternatives. But since I'm happy here, I didn't had to anyways.

http://gameminer.net/ But it's nowhere near as good as it used to be ever since Valve started getting strict on region locks. I actually migrated from there to SteamGifts after it went to shit. Their reward system has an additional feature where level also increases the rate at which you acquire currency, as well as a few other things, but yeah the community is mostly Russian so don't expect to get too involved with them socially compared to SG, and around 70% of the giveaways will be region restricted to Russia.

Steamgifts is the best site in my opinion, but you could also try gameaways. It has fewer GAs, though, but you can also give away free games.

There really is no substitute for SG. Of course you have SC but that is tiny in comparison to here and is almost completely comprised of shameless self promos of groups with a tiny excuse for a forum type thing. You do get the occasional triple a fallout or gta promo but they are almost impossible to win with 30k+ entries thanks to the raffle system callowing for multiple entries combined with the points system there that allows you to accumulate 20k points meaning peeps (cough cough bots) save up and put around 250 entries into one gib.
There's also Gameminer which isn't too bad with nice odds but it's mainly RU stuff (Mostly RU Community= Mostly RU GAs and Forum) and free games (at least they cost 0p). Credit where credit is due though since I managed to win my previous no.1 wishlisted game, Valkyria Chronicles through Gameminer! There is also Gameaways which gives away stuff like RE5 with some great odds and its extremely generous points system as well as Playblink where you play minigames to improve your chances of winning in mixed GAS or blink only ones where highest score wins. There are also random blinks which are RNG based. Sadly, that's segregated by both levels and an achievement system so I'm stuck on lvl 1 and two achievements away from a silver medal and more opportunities :(
Also, both have this paid thing with Gameminer having gold for entering premium gibs (not that there are any to enter with those gibs being 99% RU) while Playblink has charity membership for premium gibs that seem to form half rhe site (they are pretty good though) and supposedly give 10% of your fee to charity. Basically, pay to win for those two.
Anyway, all hail the SG master race with its epic gibs, epic notification system and epic community in general! Don't forget to bow down to your glorious overlords cg, ArchiBoT and Kim Jong Un!
To all those other websites, do you even train (or puzzle train)? :)

P.S: Gameminer Non-RU forum is dead and no support.
Thanks for Skyrim, Bad Rats, Fortix and Fallout 4! Reserved Potato.
P.P.S: Is it me or does the filter for gameaways not work anymore? I still get results for games in my library even after properly filtering out owned games.

Steamcompanion
Gameminer
Playblink
Galagiveaways

These are the "legitimate" ones I know. Nothing really beats Steamgifts though. I DID win Half-Life 2 on Gameminer before winning anything on Steamgifts, and I registered on Steamgifts first. :P

SG is the best because of the awesome community as long as you follow the rules...

I have won so many good games here on SG and none on Steamcompanion so far. I have made so many comments and posts here and none on steamcompanion (I started participation on both sites almost at the same time). That should give you an idea which side to lean on when it comes to participation and community :-)
