+1 Xiaomi Redmi 1S... I have it and since the RAM management was fixed in the last miui version, it has been completely awesome phone

btw: it's based on android, but miui is really nice and easy-to-use rom, kinda looks like iOS

You can't go wrong with the Coolpad F1 but it's going out of production soon so you better hurry. It has tons of ported roms and an active community too (both chinese and international). No CM though, but it's an MTK device so it's not surprising.

I think everyone phone under $200 has some or another problem

for cheap phones i dont recommend you android. The user experince is terrible. I recommend you windows phone. Try a Lumia 530 (80-100€) or wait a bit for Lumia 535 (in some countrys is still not available). If you are american, blu have cheap ones too.

The past night, in DX.com (dealextreme, a chinese site) there was a android quadcore, 1gb ram for 12$ only. There is no stock now, they sold all, but could be some good ofer again.
And the site is trust, i bought some cheap things from there.
Don't spect a high quality in this products, they are cheap chinese products.

I don't know how things are priced in your country, but I would recommend samsung galaxy s2 or samgsung galaxy s2 plus. It's and older model, but still very good.

That hasn't been true for a while now. Just look at all the phones people have posted here. Some of them have been on the market for over a year.
Chinese phones are so good now, that you're basically just wasting money, if you're buying from anywhere else. Even high-end phones are getting crushed by Xiaomi or OnePlus and others.

And still they don't get software updates, have crappy self-programmed OS overlays and reboot whenever the fuck they want. Smartphones are ridiculously crappy per se and have so many issues they don't even qualify as phones, especially at those prices.

Xiaomi phones get updated every week. MIUI has been voted as the best Android UI.
The OnePlus One has a similar thing going on. Running a special version of Cyanogenmod with regular updates.
Basically, this just shows, that you're not speaking from experience.

Wrong. My Ascend G525 did very well in reviews. Now I got a phone that has not received one OS update ever since and keeps rebooting itself whenever it feels like. Friend of mine, same phone, same issues.
Right now, I'm looking at a phone listed on Amazon since March that got about 6 months worth of updates, that's been it. Have fun having massive security holes in the phone.

Here you go - http://www.needrom.com/category/huawei/serial-g/g525-glory
Huawei is known for making phones for selected regions and providers, so it's then up to them to offer the updated ROM. Unfortunately, what usually happens is, they will get a newer firmware, but don't release it publicly. So the only way to get the update is to buy a new phone, which will have the update or download it yourself.

Thanks, I'd already found that, but that's what I meant by not very official: they really can't expect customers to
a) unlock their bootloader (you really have to give them phone specs and ask for a damn code. it's like having an apple product...)
b) download a custom firmware with no proof of source
c) install a warranty-voiding ROM
while the phone itself, to date (1 year since I got it) has not shown any updates. And it's not just one manufacturer. In fact, I myself would never buy any smartphone again that's not either cheap as fuck (like the mozillaphones or the small Xperias) or from Google. That system has holes large as the gates of gondor and not receiving updates is a neckbreaker for a modern OS.

Buy a Galaxy S2. Problem Solved.
Cheap (cause its from 2011), but still very functional and reliable.
I've flashed mine with Cyanogenmod (custom rom), so now it's running Android 4.4.4. Everything runs smoothly :)

Hi Everyone. I'm looking for a decent smartphone for a maximum price of $200, but I want it to have some very specific features:
I don't care about the camera quality, because i'm not going to use it anyway.
Here's a HOARD GA for you. I'll make one more GA if you help me out ;3
EDIT: Oh wow, thanks for all the suggestions, I gonna check them all out now. In the meantime enjoy this Monaco GA
EDIT2: After some reaserch I decided to go with the Motorola Moto G (2nd gen). I read a lot of good stuff about it, so I'm going to give it a try. Thanks again for all the help ;3
