Hi. I am planing on changing my peripherals.

I currently have:

• Mouse: Razer Deathadder 3.5 infrared sensor, 3500dpi (I have the normal edition, not the black edition. I couldn't find the normal edition on Razer's site)

• Keyboard: Logitech K350

• Mousepad: SteelSeries QcK Lich King Edition

because I have the following problems: my mouse wheel is having a strange bug (sometimes when I scroll down, it scrolls up, then back down), my keyboard "feet" broke... and my mousepad is old and the colors are blurry. Let me say that this is my 2nd Deathadder, my first had a problem...every 2-3 single clicks, it automatically double-click....very annoying. I changed it from the shop I bought it from.

I'm planing on buying:

Razer Goliathus-Fragged Control Alpha (444 x 355 x 4.3 mm)

Razer BlackWidow 2013 - Tournament Edition or Razer Deathstalker

Razer Taipan (I really don't know how this one is) or the Deathadder 2013 (because I really like the new sideways, the new mousewheel, and it will look great with the Goliathus and Blackwidow)

I was also thinking I could go with a Steelseries "combo".
Steelseries APEX[RAW]Steelseries Sensei / Sensei[RAW]Steelseries QcK NP+

My questions are:

• What do you think of my choices?

• Does the new Deathadder 2013 have glossy sideways?

• What are your thoughts on the Razer BlackWidow 2013 - Tournament Edition and Razer Deathstalker

• Does the Deathadder 2013 have problems with double-clicking or mouse wheel as the ones I experienced on my previous mice?

I will only say abiut Blackwidow as it's only one I used. It's a great kb, but imho not worth it's full price. I bought it in promo on store closure and it was worth it, but full price - no-no. It's design and usage are great, but it use to miss a click every now and then (not too often - every few play sessions I noticed such a thing). It's not a very big deal but for an expensive gaming keyboard for full price - not acceptable.

As for mopusepad - I'm using SteelSeries QcK for nearly 2 years and no problems.

As for mouse - I'm a R.A.T. fan and no Razer mouse feel nearly as good for me as R.A.T. 7 so i won't post opinions ;P

Honestly, I would just get a better quality mechanical keyboard. The Razer Blackwidow is decent but its kind of overpriced for the quality of what you get. I would go for the cooler master line of keyboards if you want something or for Filco/Ducky/Rosewill instead for just a high quality mechanical keyboard.

It's the Blackwidow Tournament Edition, it's not that high priced...it's like 70euro or 100$..it's the same price as the CM QuickFire...but I would like my desk to be "assorted"...all Black & Green peripherals + I am kind of a Razer fanboy. I really like their products, and I don't think they make bad quality products...maybe some materials are weird and I seriously don't understand why they use them (for example the sideways of the old Deathadder are always dirty because of the glossy plastic and there's nothing you can do about it...I clean my mouse more than 1 time/day).

I don't know where you live but the CM QF is only 60$ in the US. Also, yes it is bad quality. Costar stabilizers found in the QFR is much superior to what Razer uses, and not to mention a better soldering job on the PCB itself.

Mechanical all the way, but get laser etched keys. The letters won't rub off that way.

Now if they can stop my spacebar from getting a hole in it between the N and M keys, I'd never need another keyboard.

Actually lazer may still rub off. The one you want is doubleshot.

I'm a Logitech guy. So I recommend the Logitech G500 mouse. But I'm sure what you've selected is fine too.

+1 for that. I have a g500, and i love it.
If you care about price at all, razer is generally not the right way to go.

I used a G500 for 2 weeks and it's not my type of mouse.

Same, i like the naga better (more comfy for small hands)

The Naga really looks cool, it really looks like a snake head... but I don't think my brain is so complex to know which button to press with my thumb haaha

I like my Naga, but the 12 buttons on the side are positioned too far back for me. I can only comfortably use 6, maybe 9 of them if I really reach. I use a combination of palm and claw grips, leaning more toward palm, so this is the reason I can't reach the bottom row.

The Naga Hex looks to have the same problem. I don't have one, but screenshot comparisons seem to indicate this.

I'm a big fan of my G700. Wireless with rechargeable battery. Incredibly control both wired and wireless. I also love my G100 keyboard.

I have an unnatural distrust of wi-fi for mouse/keyboards. I have a wireless headset, the G930, but that's different to me, for some reason.

You are indeed right. When using a wireless device, you have bigger response time and a limited power supply that can go off any minute.

The G700 has no response time problems on wireless and also sends data through the wired connection, when plugged in. This is why I tend to recommend it and why I own one, myself. It is just about the perfect mouse. 13 well placed buttons, full macro support, a great mouse wheel, tons of tweaking, and very well built. It works equally well for all types of games, which most mice don't. If you play both FPS and MMO type games, you can use the MMO mice most of the time because the FPS will suffer. If you use the better FPS type mice, you usually lose out on the buttons and macro capabilities.

• What do you think of my choices?

You would probably be better off going Logitech or Corsair for your picks. That new Corsair K95 keyboard looks awesome, but it isn't out yet. I passed over all the BlackWidows for the K90. My reasoning would be the overall quality of Razer products, which is hit or miss. Make sure you actually want Blue Switches. Those are more for typing. You can look at non gaming mechanicals, too.

The g700, g500, and other mice from logitech would likely offer more features and hold up longer. The new Corsair line looks really nice, too (The M65 and M95).

You might want to at least consider looking past Razer products, for the sake of getting some comparisons, even if you decide to go with them anyway.

I really took a look past Razer products, and I wasn't really impressed. I really like Razer and Steelseries products(tho I kind of hate Steelseries mice, because of their same shape - which I'm not used to maybe, finding it uncomfortable.

If it really comes down to simply feel and nothing else, then you have to make this decision on your own. Just go to a store and feel all the mice. Then you can compare the ones you like.

I can't do that. They are not exposed in any showroom. That's why I was requesting advice. :)

Hmm... Things are definitely different in Romania. In the US, you can just got to pretty much any store that sells them and check them out.

In showrooms I can only see the Naga, the BlackWidow, some Logitech products which I don't really like, and some small brands...
It's a big showroom, but it concentrates more on desktops, laptops, TVs, consoles - not peripherals :(

The 2013 Deathadder is a decent mouse but Razer has subpar quality in general so it could very well develop problems.

+1 for both these, Deathadder is nice but the quality is pretty so so, you might get lucky....but yeah.

Check out the Naos mouses.

Recommending the R.A.T. 9 as a mouse. A lot of customisation is possible, making it the most comfortable mouse I've used to date (and I've tried a lot!)

Nice and responsive too. It's also wireless, but has a neat system with 2 hot-swappable batteries. One charges while the other is in use, meaning you never run out of juice. Takes 10 seconds to change them over if you're in the middle of something :)

I agree with most of the above. BW is overpriced.Check the Coolermaster mechanical keyboards. They are pretty nice and solid.
Also Logitech has announced a new mechanical gaming keyboard.
Mouse I'd go with Logi.I own 1 MS Intelli Optical,1 Logi MX 510,1 Logi MX1100 and 1 MS X8.I have tried some of my friends Razers but i find their build quality lacking at best.I would also go with G400 or G500 from Logitech.
As far as mousepad is concerned I used to have a QcK+ until it was wasted and no i have my old S$S and a QcK normal size.I m pretty satisfied with both (although the lack of the extra space that QcK+ had makes me thinking about buyin a new one).I have also heard good things about Puretrack Talent so you might wanna give a go at that too.

If you don't need many features in your mouse, I would recommend the Logitech G400. It's pretty good for the price it has.

As for keyboards, I recommend not getting Razor branded ones. I have a real life friend that used the brand. It didn't even last 1 year.

Buy a mechanical keyboard, I prefer filco. Razer breaks easily in my experience.

I'm afraid Filco products are not available in my country, and I can't risk buying it from another country because if it has any problems I will pay the shipment back and forth 3 times...

Honestly, never had an issue with anything they make.

Razer is much much much more likely to break then something like a Filco.

If not Filco look into Das, SteelSeries, Thermaltake, Ducky Shine, Corsair, and Azio, honestly they are all better builds.

For mice I would seriously stick to Logitech, steelseries, and Corsair but I am sure some other brands make good products, sadly Razer is not among them, they are however comfortable but if you do go with one make sure to get an extended warranty.

I'm left handed and recently wanted to upgrade from a three button mouse to one with side buttons. Because left-handed mice of that sort aren't as numerous as right-handed ones, I eventually narrowed down my options to a SteelSeries Sensei made as an ambidextrous mouse, so buttons on both sides, and a left-handed Razer. Price-wise, the SteelSeries is more expensive, but as luck would have it, Amazon had a damn good day-only discount on it a few days after looking into them, so a price difference was a non-issue.

For my purposes, I went with the SteelSeries. Although the cons for the Razer may have been specific to the left-handed one, as I read numerous reviews where it seemed to have certain issues. The SteelSeries, though, seemed to have overall better reviews... and it allows you to turn off the LED, which I'm glad about.

I can't speak towards the Razer's quality, but as far as first hand experience with the SteelSeries, I've had it for a few months and so far so good. It does what I got it for, and not only do I get the side buttons that I was wanting, but two more buttons on the other side, too, which I've made use of. However, do note that it may be a double-edged sword to some, as you may bump the other buttons with your pinky until you get used to them there. I can't say I've had that issue after the first few days.

Razer Taipan: The shape of the mouse makes it slightly uncomfortable to use, more so if u are a palm grip user. I switched to a DA BLACK soon after. (Its just that the DA series suits my gripping style)
