Hmm I think 2 PCs and 1 laptop. I used potato laptop after the first PC with Steam on it went byebye. I played Fable 1 on potato laptop because it had only 64MB VRAM. 😁 Then got my current PC, running since nearly 6 years and still running decent. 👍
Ryzen 2600, RX 570 and 16GB RAM.
Dreaming of a new PC but not enough money.

I've had one laptop, but it was way back in like 2011. I think it was a Toshiba Satellite, but I don't recall the specs.

I've had several PCs since opening my Steam account. Current specs:

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, AMD Ryzen 5 5500, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, Win 11

I also own a Steamdeck.

2080TI, I8700 (higher seemed electricity consumption overkill which is already expensive), 32gb RAM.
It's fine for what i want to do, never had a laptop.

And a steamdeck i only have used 2 times. Using it before bedtime (just watch tv), on the balcony (too many bugs), never happened.

I have an Asus Zenbook and a Steam Deck for travel/portable/flexible purposes.
My desktop is Ryzen 5, PNY GeForce RTX 3050. ☺️ My main laptop is HP ultra 7. I've typically always had HP and they've served me well - maybe 3 machines in 15 years (4 including a brief stint with Toshiba). I love my Asus Zenbook as it was a gift from someone super special, but as far as price:features:performance its not something I would've purchased on my own.

HP cops a lot of slack for bloatware but I think any out-of-the-box windows solution is going to have that issue. I just clean install windows or ubuntu straight away, depending on warranty conditions.

the idea is that if you're not constantly on the move and have somewhere to put a desktop computer, you don't need a laptop :)

I'm seeing some nice and affordable used offers on ebay with e.g. a RTX 3070 laptop GPU and decent display which would set you back only around 700-800 bucks. I'd avoid buying new as all consumer electronics are so cheaply made they'll die after a couple of years anyway.

I had an old HP netbook years ago. It was slow as mud and unusable. Got it via an airmiles reward. I could play hearts on it. That's about it.

💻🕸️

Steam Deck and a Desktop with a 3060 Ti in it is what I have now.

I've had a few different pcs. The one I'm using right now has these specs.

OS: Windows 11 Home 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-12700K
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
RAM: 16 GB DDR4
Storage: 1TB SSD

This is pretty decent and I can play everything in 4k on max settings.

1 laptop, 2 pc's all windows 7, and a steam deck
as of the recent 2025 valve survey the number of windows 7 steam users has gone up.
some of them i know are people faking windows 7 to lock in the steam build and prevent any new updates

Used 1 laptop ages ago.

Built my first gaming desktop in 2012, made upgrades to it over the years, with the last ones being in 2023, stopped using this desktop 2 weeks ago because i built a new one instead of continuing to upgrade. The overall cost for this computer, with the hardware only in mind, spent a bit over 3k € along the way, i never resold old parts, if i did i could have lowered the costs, instead i gave them to my brother

So i'm now on my 2nd gaming desktop build and i abused on the investment. Initially i was going with upgrading my old desktop again, spending like 1200€, but then i thought... maybe its finally time to make a fresh build and start brand new. Then i set my price limit to 2000€, which meant literally nothing because i ended up spending 2.5k instead.

My current setup is:
7800x3d
2x32gb ddr5 ram cl30 6000mhz
9070 xt
2x2tb nvme ssd's
1200W power supply (it was on sale, literally 5€ difference between buying a 1000W PSU and the 1200 one), gold 80+ considered "top tier" for very demanding builds, it is overkill for my current build
everything else is also new but less important

Old setup was:
i7 3770k -> ryzen 5600g
4x4 ddr3 ram 1600mhz -> 2x16 ddr4 ram 3600mhz
asus gtx 670 -> asus rog strix 1080 ti oc
1tb WD HDD 7200 rpm
120gb kingston ssd (died rather quick, was mostly for operating system, this was bought when SSDs were brand new to the market, so it was expensive as hell) -> replaced with same SSD but 240gb variant (and it was much cheaper, like 3 years later)
800W silver 80+ PSU (died after almost a decade of using it) -> crappy 750W bronze 80+ PSU (used for 11 months untill i learnt that it was actually harming my system by causing instability and even caused sparkles on the display port cable that connected from my gtx 1080 ti to my monitor, the end that connected to the monitor started having sparks, which scared the living crap out of me, this was the power supply acting up when pushed to its limits) -> high tier (currently, back then it was top tier) 750W gold 80+ power supply

Along with my current setup, i have a steam deck lcd 64gb with a 256gb sd card from an old phone i do not use much (only use i have for it is to control lights, TVs or watching videos, other than this its pretty slow. Can play some old mobile games but not really worth it). I bought this deck during a steam sale, i'm not sure if it was the first steam deck sale, but it was before the announcement of the OLED version. I paid like 20% less for this steam deck or something, so it was a bit over 300€ in the end if i'm not mistaking. This purchase right here has been and will most likely will always be my best value purchase for gaming. It will be VERY HARD to beat it. Unless i go for used market, buying things on sale brand new, it feels impossible to beat the deal with the steam deck 64gb. Which is now discontinued, this forced the steam deck cost to go up in value, making it less attractive to buy and IMO, paying anywhere close to 500€ for a steam deck, you might be better off buying a lenovo legion go or asus rog ally z1 extreme on sale.
