Favorite Grand Strategy franchise?
Don't you expect group members to be interested in strategy games? At least somewhat.
I'd use http://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam, load the profile of the candidate, pick the strategy tag and sort by playtime. Check FrostEz and you'll understand my surprise. ;)

It's not exactly a problem if he hasn't played many strategy games because all giveaways in this group will require something that will make people play strategy games. At the end of day my goal of making people play more strategy will be acomplished, even if they did it just to join GAs. :)

No great turn around, but a recent episode how the AI in EU4 caused me more trouble than expected.
I played Muscovy/Russia and had the largest, but not the best army in world. The other great powers were in that order: Spain, Ming, Ottomans, France, Scandinavia, England, Austria.

Spain and Ottomans had established one great alliance block (with Portugal and sometimes England), I lead the other with Austria and Scandinavia and the recent addition of France (which got severely punched by their rival Spain previously) plus my vassals.
So my plan was to overwhelm the Ottomans, while France and Austria should keep Spain busy, till I'd force the Ottomans to surrender and move west.
Problem 1: France appears listed as allies for both sides, despite Spain being their rival.
I can handle it anyway and DoW.
Problem 2: Scandinavia doesn't join immediately, but later.
So I split forces to defend Austria in the mountains, while I still try to conquer some sweet lands in the Balkans.

Problem 3: France turns against Austria, in their own war. At least England is allied with Austria too and enters that war on our side.
Problem 4: Ming joins France, using their option as a great power
Shit, the world is burning!

I hurriedly manage to peace out with the Ottomans, even gaining some provinces. But France and Spain deplete my manpower, while the Ming slowly roflstomp my eastern outposts and few troops there.
I manage to beat enough Spanish armies and occupy their provinces in Italy, to convince them to white peace out.
Forces get split, half moving East to the Ming, which reached the Ural. Scandinavia, being at peace with the world after the war against Spain ended, joins the French side, opening a whole new front right next to the center of my empire. I spend all money left and go all in on France, nuking the war leader and forcing their complete side to surrender .... yay. Even managed to get Austria and Provence some provinces.
That was the most entertaining experience in EU4 in quite some time, fighting the numbers 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in the world. Almost all at the same time.
The map at the end of that campaign, in 1821:

It's the third month of strategy games GAs here on SG. Hope you enjoyed previous GAs. The first being a Turn-Based Strategy, then a RTS and now a Grand Strategy. About the game: Europa Universalis 4 is a GSG made by Paradox and one of my favorite strategy games of all time.
Here's your ticket. Lvl 1+, as always. It's the digital extreme version, but please do NOT enter for the dlcs!
