Ouch, an interesting discussion ?
i just learnt the hard way that now from Europe, some games cost higher than 10% more in some regions.

You've read well, trying to send Aircraft carrier survival to Argentina from €, i couldn't because the game costs now more than +10% in USA... And Argentina and Turkey have now prices in US dollars https://steamdb.info/app/1021100/
Same for Radio Commander https://steamdb.info/app/871530/ +15% US$ / $Latam / $Turkey
Probably some other games are affected, not all, but probably not the only 2.

Also you maybe already noticed but Swiss Franc is much higher than € too, so most games can't be gifted on Steam from € to Switzerland. For example here the difference is +20% https://steamdb.info/app/1875060/

So if you gift on Steam from € please don't forget to check steamdb before,
there is a high chance that you'll have to exclude Switzerland, and some chance that you'll have to exclude US$ regions.

Bump
please take a look if you're from € too, we can no more send some gifts to US dollar countries.
If you send a game from Steam, you'll have to check steamdb and maybe set region-locks.

There are some bullshit cases for this, like the (pretty awful) Heavy Burden costs $20 in the US, and 30€ in the EU. Not even just currency discrepancies, but arbitrary pricing that plagued other regions too.

Many Microsoft games are cheaper in US$ than € too
if we look for example at Forza https://steamdb.info/app/1551360/
the expensive countries are Israel, Swiss and... Costa Rica (wtf)

I'm pretty sure it relies solely on the pricing for the region... I mean, I guess it might be only for region locks but during the secret santa event I was a part of atleast 3 EU friends sent me steam gifts (my region is LATAM).

Yes it's not a global regional restriction, it's from the pricing difference.
But i wanted to inform that it can happen, cause until now we never had this sort of problem from Europe.

Regional price relations are set once and never change usually while exchange rates fluctuate due to many factors. Trump's crazy and irresponsible unpredictable rhetoric and actions drive the dollar as it's seen as a safe haven in growing geopolitical uncertainty.

I've always been convinced that € was one of the strong currencies. Maybe i'm delusional but it felt weird.
I mean before that i thought if i gift directly on Steam from €, it could go to everywhere in the world. But no. Or no more.
Probably it was like that before to Switzerland. But to US$ ? :-/

Poor guys in Argentina and Turkey who have now prices in US$.
I now remember that they mentioned that some months ago but didn't understand, that the games cost now an arm for them.

Not long ago exchange rate was 1€=1.10$ now it's near parity so the "worth" of the US Dollar increased 10% in a short time.

Yes, dudes in countries with Steam pricing in USD have nothing to be happy about.

Ah so i'm not mad, it really moved recently from € to $.
On another topic, i'm glad that you purchased Aircraft Carrier Survival !
I'm playing a crazy mission now, it feels almost like Ace Combat science-fiction. XD

Ah yes, like I said it's a dream of mine to be an Admiral in the Swiss Navy commanding a carrier group. Maybe I'll succeed in another part of the Multiverse.
