before maybe, not worth it anymore.
They are limiting the hell out of the players. They can control the prices through GE
Purging bot players is their demise. I know it sound stupid, but bots made price manipulation in the market very hard. (More competition). Since a lot of bot workers have been banned, prices has been easier to be manipulated by jagex OR rares will be manipulated easier by the higher classes.

I know so many people who use bots and still haven't been banned. I don't actually play the game so I couldn't care less

I agree w/ Path of Exile, haven't played the other two.

Tera gets old quickly, and lacks content even a year after launch. Combat is pretty fun for a while though, and it is free to play, so there isn't much harm in trying it out.
I JUST started playing Guild Wars 2 on their free weekend, which turned into a purchase, and despite still essentially being a tab-target based control system, I'm absolutely loving the game. About 16% completion on my first toon, which is level 34, still very early, but the game game is $20 off until the 28th, making it a one-time $40 purchase, which isn't bad for an MMO.
I assume when you're asking about MMOs that you mean one with a large open world etc. and stuff like Warframe isn't what you're looking for. Otherwise I'd say Warframe is totally worth checking out if you're into the 3rd person sci-fi action games. Not strictly a shooter, but very fun and extremely pretty for free to play. SUPER grindy though.
For something a little retro, Vanguard is pretty old, and has some things that might surprise 'modern' mmo players. Similarly, DDO feels aged in a way that can be nostalgic for some people, trying it won't hurt or cost a thing, although it sounds like paying money gets you massively ahead. EQ2 could probably be on this list as well.
C9, Vindictus, Dragon Nest, STO, etc. are mostly instance based, but enjoyable in their own right as well.
Honestly, what people are looking for in an MMO is so incredibly variable that going in, I'd just jump into some free to play games, as they are abundant now, even within the steam client games. Worst case scenario, when you come back asking for suggestions you'll be able to narrow it down with personal experiences, what you liked, what you didn't, etc. to get more useful help from people on forums.

World of Warcraft, first 20 levels are free, it's truly worth the money.

WoW is a game where you pay to lose your life, other mmorpg's aren't really different, but at least are free. I spend really a lot of hours playing WoW, but in a private server, 2 years since I don't play I can say that I won't play any MMO game in my life anymore.

I know, but anyways, for me MMO RPG's are very interesting and funny and cool games, but you have to spend really too much hours, so I pass playing them, I played WoW and stopped 2 years ago and before this I played Metin 2 because all my friend in school were playing it(and one guy is still playing that shit and he is a big donor also, I think for 6 years now) now my friend in university or from high schools classes are playing League of Legends, it's not a MMORPG but is very addictive game too, but I don't play it anyways and never will :i

I fucking love WoW, no joke. I've gotten so much playtime and fun out of it. Like Nixanikaas said, private servers are not at all like the actual game.

There are quite some nice MMOs around there. You could try LoTRO, Age of Connan, Tera Online, and if you like Fallout, you could try Fallen Earth. Also some others are Everquest 2, Wizardry Online, and if you would like MMOFPSs, Planetside 2 is there for you.

Probably the most disappointing game of the year for me. The combat was shallow and got incredibly dull past level 30 and WvWvW was just a mindless zerg rush. The dungeons were just plain boring, and felt like they were just stuck on for the sake of it. I feel like instead of revolutionizing the genre, they completely and utterly broke it. A lot of the complexity traditional MMORPGs was gone, and they got rid of a lot of elements I actually enjoy. The only time I had any fun with the game was just the first 2 weeks of playing and the PvP (which I also lost interest in).
I don't know why so many people enjoyed it, I personally think it's just word of mouth.

I dunno about utterly broke the genre; there were some aspects that I reckon were/are pretty enjoyable, although some aspects that you mentioned I have to agree with...
My analogy of GW2 is that it's like Windows Vista (like GW2 there were some features I liked about Vista, but others that just weren't good), whereas the general MMORPG mold is still Windows XP.

Gw 2 shouldn't have gone the way of WoW..
If they had kept the point n click and instanced maps, which made gw gw.. I reckon it would have been way better.
Now it's just needlessly grinding for an over expensive Legendary weapon as end-game.

Point and click is the most awkward and annoying way of playing an MMO, the original GW also had WASD movement aswell. The game is still instanced, just that the instances are larger, if you're talking about the "empty besides yourself" instances that GW 1 had then it's a step forward, it only made the game feel empty and dead, and this is coming from someone who played it for 3 years.
Also it's clear that you either played GW 2 for very little time or missed the whole point of legendary weapons, they're only for the skin, they have the exact same stats as exotics which are very easy to get.

I see that you are totally ignorant of the fact that GW isn't Gw anymore with the new one.
Title Hunting is fairly boring now, which first was the most important thing you did and the grind to 80 is broing as hell with the sequel.
Now apparently you think i didn't give Gw2 the chance to prove itself, you are wrong once more :) I've got 3 lvl 80 characters and 1 with commander with 2/3 of the legendary and tbh, Gw2 sucks no endgame content. unlike the old one, which had only end game content (early level cap).

GWs 2 is forever adding new content thought. It's worth casual play just for the content updates.

forever each month yeah, and that even includes things they should have made available since the release. Also each festive month there won't be new content, but there will be new "festive-blow-your-money-on-this" stuff.
So yeah they are adding, but if they want to reach the content of Gw1 without expansion packs it will take at least 4 or even 5 years.
Again this is my point of view, if you don't aggree. It's fine by me.

Kinda agree on this. Everyone is all like "they do free updates and give free content - great!" and forget they still have to add stuff that was promised to have been included in launch.

Ragnarok 2 opens up for US in 6 days and has SEA regions open already.
Tales of Pirates was somewhat fun for a free game.
SWTOR of course like others are saying.
Runes of Magic was decent.
Ive heard Age of Wushu is free? maybe up to a point. It was just released and had a lot of hype so maybe give that a shot.
There are a ton of free MMOs but most are really meh
